1. Why does computer cannot operate without any instructions?

- Since computers are essentially devices that carry out tasks by following a series of established steps or
directions, they cannot function without instructions. Because they are built to analyze information and
carry out tasks in a precise and controlled manner, computers are machines that depend on instructions
to operate. These directives, which direct the computer's behavior and operations, can originate from a
variety of sources, including the operating system, application software, and user inputs. A computer
would be inactive and unable to complete any meaningful operations without instructions.

2. Explain the figure below.

- The interaction between these components creates a seamless and functional computing
environment, with the hardware system serving as the underlying infrastructure for the software
components to operate and for users to achieve their objectives. Users interact with the computer and
its software components to execute tasks, and their instructions are carried out through the software
and hardware. Application software is where particular activities and user objectives are accomplished,
however for it to work successfully, the operating system and hardware are necessary. The operating
system acts as the system's manager, coordinating hardware resources and providing a platform for
application software to run. The hardware serves as the system's building block, providing the resources
and processing power required to run programs and carry out activities.

3. Give three examples of device driver

-Printer Driver: Software that enables communication between an operating system and a printer is
known as a printer driver. It specifies the formatting of data for printing and controls the printer's
numerous functions and capabilities, including print quality, paper size, and color settings. The operating
system and software programs would not be able to efficiently deliver print jobs to the printer or
manage its operations without the correct printer driver.

- A keyboard is a common input device used with computers and other electronic devices. It allows
users to input text, commands, and other data by pressing keys. Keyboards are necessary for things like
typing, gaming, coding, and navigating computer systems. They can be linked to computers by USB,
Bluetooth, or other connection methods. They are a crucial tool for communicating with computers and
other electronic gadgets.

- Graphics Card Driver: Graphics processing units (GPUs) cannot operate properly without graphics card
drivers, often known as GPU drivers. Through the use of these drivers, the operating system and
software programs may use the GPU to produce visuals for video playback, gaming, and graphic creation.
Additionally, GPU drivers offer performance enhancements and compatibility for a variety of
applications.

4. Compare and contrast system software and operating system.

- The operating system (OS) is a specific and central part of system software that manages the hardware
resources and provides a platform for running application software. It is responsible for tasks like process
management, memory management, file system management, and user interface. While the system
software (SS) is a encompasses a broad category of software that manages and supports the operation of
a computer system. It includes various software components such as device drivers, utility programs, and
system libraries. System software components enable the operating system's management of hardware
resources and provision of a user interface while also offering additional resources for device
administration and repair. Both system software and the operating system are essential for the
functioning of a computer.

5. Explain this in your own words, “Manually, a real time system guarantees response to an
external event within a specified period”.

- Based on my own perspective, this sentence is all about the real-time scenario that can react within
milliseconds during a specific period. It has the ability to complete the task quickly, which is why real-
time software is essential for those scenarios that need to be done quickly. Moreover, it is important
because of the level of precision and timing performance. A real-time system is necessary, especially for
navigation and defense organizations, because it can automatically perform safety features.
