SOIL EROSION

Soil erosion is the destruction of soil, in which the topsoil of a field is carried away by physical
sources such as wind and water. However, human action has intensified this process in worrying
ways.

Soil erosion causes

Natural causes: which the nature is responsible for it. It can be rainfall and Flooding, strong
winds…

 Rainfall and flooding

Higher intensity of rainstorms is the main cause of soil erosion. The raindrops disperse
the soil, which is then washed away into the nearby streams and rivers. Regions with very
heavy and frequent rainfall face a large amount of soil loss. The flowing water during
floods also erodes a lot of soil by creating potholes, rock-cut basins, etc.

Artificial causes: which human beings’ activities are responsible for them. For instance:
Grazing, cutting down trees, mining…

 Overgrazing
The grazing animals feed on the grasses and remove the vegetation from the land. If
many animals are put in the same land, plants will never have a chance to grow again, as
the animals eat everything that is green. They pull out plants by their roots. This loosens
the soil and makes it more prone to erosion.
 Construction
The construction of roads and buildings exposes the soil to erosion. The forests and
grasslands are cleared for construction purposes, which exposes the soil making it
vulnerable to erosion.
 Chopping down trees
Communitarians usually chop down trees, to sell, to use as firewood for those who can’t
afford electric power. However, this activity makes the soil more prone to soil erosion.

 Mining
Disorganized mining activities can also cause erosion. When removing a large amount of
earth from an ore deposit, nearby soils can lose their support structure.
 Monoculture
Carrying out monoculture causes a lot of damage to the environment. Cultivating a single
species can cause soil exhaustion , leading to the depletion of its nutrients and,
consequently, nutritional impoverishment. Farmers should plant different crops and
sometimes give the land some time to rest.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL
The environment is an integral part of our lives, and our responsibility is to keep it clean and safe
for ourselves and future generations. With increasing pollution levels and climate change, it’s
more important than ever to take action and make our environment safe and clean. Even the used
vehicles, especially the electric ones, are very environmentally friendly.
Here are some tips we should follow to keep the environment clean and safe:
 Plant trees
Trees are essential for a healthy environment. They help absorb carbon dioxide, filter
pollutants and provide important habitats for wildlife.
 Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
One of the easiest and most effective ways to make our environment safe and clean is to
reduce, reuse, and recycle. By reducing the amount of waste we produce, reusing items
instead of throwing them away, and recycling as much as possible, we can reduce the
amount of waste that ends up in landfills and pollutes our environment.
 Educate yourself and others
Finally, educating ourselves and others are key to making our environment safe and clean. By
staying informed about environmental issues and sharing that knowledge with others, we can
raise awareness and inspire action to create a more sustainable future.

 Water Conservation
We should consider collecting the rainwater and use it to water the plants, scrub the
vehicles, etc.

2
In conclusion, making our environment safe and clean requires action from all of us.
By following these tips, we can reduce our environmental impact, create a more sustainable
future, and ensure that our planet remains healthy and vibrant for generations to come. Let’s all
take responsibility for our actions and do our part to protect our environment.
