ASSURE MODEL LESSON PLAN

Subject: Mathematics
Topic: Basic Concept of Probability
Time: 1 hour
A. ANALYZE LEARNERS
General Characteristics: The lesson is made for junior high school students
specifically grade 8 students. The class is made up of females and males, there are 30
students and 21 of them are girls and 9 of them are boys. The students’ cognitive level
is from average to above average. The students are eager to learn in order to widen
their knowledge and understanding about the basic concept of probability.
Entry Characteristics: The students are capable in solving mathematics such as sets,
sequence and all. However, it is limited since they are in grade 8 level only which
means their understanding on the other aspects of mathematics is not as broad as the
other grade level. Thus, students enjoy doing activities about learning the Basic concept
of Probability. They have also learned the significance of Basic concept of Probability in
real life problems.
Learning styles: Students in the class exhibit a variety of learning style like visuals and
slide presentations because most of them are more active in visual instructional
materials. They also exhibit in collaborative learning style like group activity.
B. STATE OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 Define and identify experiment, outcome, sample space, sample point and event;
 Perform the basic concept of probability through tossing a coin; and
 Apply the basic concept of probability in real life situation.
C. SELECT MEDIA, MATERIALS AND METHODS
Media and Materials: Markers, Visual like PowerPoint presentation, laptop, projector
Coins, dice, and Whiteboard eraser.
Methods:
 The teacher will start the day by doing the preliminary activities.
 The teacher will give the students a motivation and activity after.
 Teacher will have the discussion about the basic concept of probability.
 The teacher will provide numerous of examples about the topic.
 Teacher will ask the students about the lesson.
 Student will be given a seatwork to ensure if they had understood the lesson.
D. UTILIZE MEDIA, MATERIALS AND METHODS
Preview Materials: The teacher will ensure that the laptop is working; the projector is
compatible with the laptop. The teacher will check if the markers and other materials
needed are working.
Prepare Environment: The students will be arrange in a way that all of them can view
clearly the presentation.
E. REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION
The students will activity engage on motivation and activity related to the basic concept
of probability. Students will be participating in both individual and group discussion
about the basic concept of probability. The students will answer the formative
assessment prepared by the teacher and is given to them to test their learning about the
topic.
F. EVALUATE AND REVISE
Students will be asked about their understanding in the topic. Students will be given an
assessment through a quiz to check their understanding about the topic. The teacher
wills ask if there some clarification about the topic. If there is, a student who did not
cope up easily about the topic, the teacher will provide numerous examples about the
topic.
