ENTRY INFORMATION:
The entry deadline is 12:00pm (CST) on Friday, September 1, 2023, via Direct Athletics. The maximum
number of runners per gender in the varsity races is 10. All additional runners will compete in the Open
Divisions. There is no limit in the Open Division.

ENTRY FEE:
High School - $100 per gender per school (boy’s + girl’s = $200)
*$100/40 runners, additional runners are $3 per runner.

Middle School - $40 per gender per school (boy’s + girl’s = $80)
*$40/20 runners, additional runners are $3 per runner.

Please note, if you have more than the allotted number of athletes per the $100/$40, you will be
invoiced for the additional runners from the Omaha Sports Commission and exact payment will be due
at Packet Pick-up. Checks can be made out to the Omaha Sports Commission (P.O. Box 744, Omaha,
NE, 68010).

PLACING/SCORING:
Large School races will be placing 7 and scoring 5. Small School races will be placing 6 and scoring 4.
Middle School races will be placing 7 and scoring 5. Any school can opt to participate in the Large
School Race, all Nebraska Class A schools will be considered a Large School.

Awards will be presented following each race class. Awards will be presented to the top ten (10)
individuals from each Large School Varsity, Small School Varsity, and Middle School races as well as the
top two (2) overall teams.

STATE PARK PROTOCOLS:


All course rules are compliant with that of the State Park rules of the Nebraska Game and Parks
Commission. Please refer the Eugene T. Mahoney State Park website HERE for park information.

PACKET PICK-UP:
Packet pick-up will take place in the Bur Oak Pavilion (on map) on race morning starting at 7:00am.

TEAM AREA:
See map below for location of team area. Your team will have a designated space based on the number
of athletes participating. These will be marked with a number and your team will receive a number
assignment prior to race day as well as with your packet.

DECLARATIONS:
Report all scratches, including turning in the athlete’s bib to the timing tent (see map), no later than 30
minutes prior to the start of the race. Otherwise, any athlete without a finishing time will be listed as a
DNF.

TIMING:
This meet will be timed by Black Squirrel Timing. All Races will utilize chipped bibs.

RESULTS:
Results will be posted at www.omahasports.org and www.blacksquirreltiming.com upon completion of
the event. Live timing results with intermediate splits will be used.

FACILITY AVALABILITY:
The Cross-Country Course at Mahoney State Park will be open for warmups beginning at 7:00am on
race day.

TEAM PARKING:
Please see the course map for the location of team bus and van parking. Team parking will be located
at the SAC Museum. Signage will be posted on Race Day to help with directions. The SAC Museum
parking is ONLY for team buses and vans carrying athletes and coaches. This is NOT for spectators or
support staff.

ATHLETIC TRAINING:
Athletic training will be available on race day. Please contact Rusty McKune – Head Athletic Trainer -
RMckune@nebraskamed.com 402.250.5720 for specific athletic training requests.

EVENT MERCHANDISE:
Customizable event merchandise will be available for purchase ahead of the event day. Link for gear
can be found HERE. Customizable features include all schools listed on the back of the shirt and the
option to order shirts in school colors. Last day to order online to have gear at the event is August 23,
2023. Event gear will be available to purchase on-site. Please note, on-site gear is not customized.

DRESSING/SHOWER FACILITIES:
Not available

VENDOR VILLAGE:
Various vendors and food trucks will be on site.

TRASH:
Please be courteous of the park and keep your team camp clean.
In your team packet, we have provided a trash bag. Following the
meet, please leave this in your team camp area and we will
dispose of the trash.

WARM UP/COOL DOWN SPACE:


There is absolutely no warming up/cooling down on the paved
roads in the park for the safety of your athletes. Please stick to the grass areas around the course.

COUSE MAP:
High School will run the 5K route and Middle School will run the 3K route. The start and finish for both
races is the yellow line closest to the Team Camp area.

TEAM PARKING: -
Team parking will be at the S.A.C. Museum (28210 W Park Hwy, Ashland, NE 68003). There is a path for
athletes and coaches to walk from the parking lot to team camp. The SAC Museum parking is ONLY for
team buses and vans carrying athletes and coaches. This is NOT for spectators or support staff.

Team Camp

HOTEL:
We have secured a hotel room block for anyone who may need a hotel. The room block can be found
HERE. This room block is active until August 29, 2023 and has a rate of $149.99 + tax.
