SPEAKER BIO/OVERVIEW:
He is a lifelong resident of Davie County and graduated from Davie High in 1994. I started my 911 career in 1996 at Davie
County 911 to 2000. From 2000 I worked as a Supervisor at Rowan County 911 until coming back to Davie County 911 in
2008. In 2015 Promoted to 911 Director of Davie County. I hold the certifications of National Emergency Number Agency
(NENA) Emergency Number Professional (ENP) NENA ENP, was a graduate of the first accredited course of Public Safety
Answering Point (PSAP) Executive Management Certificate Level 1 Program through Richmond Community College, the 911
Center Manager Program from NENA. I was awarded 2019, 911 Communications Leader of the year in 2019 from the North
Carolina Chapter of NENA. I am also certified in Emergency Medical, Police, Fire Dispatch protocols; EMD, EFD, and EPD. I
also serve on the North Carolina 911 Board Standards Committee, and I am currently the North Carolina Disaster
Preparedness 5th region (DPR-5) 911 Communications Chair representative.

IMPORTANT INFO:
● This Lunch & Learns is capped at 30 students.
● Do NOT register if you are not sure if you can make it. (Pay attention to the day of the week and other
commitments you may have during FLEX.)
● Students who register should check email to find out if they are actually registered, OR if they have been put on the
waiting list because the cap has been met.
○ Do NOT just show up to the room. Check email for verification. (Check spam/junk folder.)
● Students who are attending will be placed in the Lunch & Learn class for this date in EdFiciency.
● Please be on time! We need to begin as soon as the tardy bell rings.
● Be prepared to ask questions and take part in the Lunch & Learn.
● Email shoemakerm@davie.k12.nc.us if you registered but CANNOT attend. Someone wants your spot!
