PB+J Lesson Plan

SWBAT: By the end of the lesson students will be able to cleanly and safely make a Peanut
Butter and Jelly sandwich.

Objectives: To learn how to make a PB+J sandwich while cleaning up after ourselves and
removing unwanted materials.

Materials:
- Peanut Butter (or alternative for nut allergy)
- Strawberry Jelly (or alternative for preferences)
- Sliced Bread (honey wheat or alternative for preferences or intolerances)
- Butter Knife ( for safety)
- Plate (plate)
- Napkin (for clean up)

Directions:
1) [GREETING] Today we will be preparing a PB+J sandwich! Please gather your materials
2) We will take one slice of bread and a knife. Use the knife to scoop opened peanut butter
and spread it evenly on one side of the bread, before placing back on the plate.
3) Remove excess peanut butter with the napkin and put peanut butter away
4) Remove the lid from the jelly before scooping out the jelly with the knife and evenly
spreading it on the alternative slice of bread.
5) After cleaning off excess jelly with the napkin screw the lid back onto the jelly and put
the jelly away.
6) Take each slice of bread into either hand and carefully put them together with the peanut
butter on the jelly sides of the bread.

Evaluation:
Is the sandwich put together correctly?
Are the materials clean and put away properly?
Was the sandwich made safely? Is the student safe?
