Course Objectives:
To Introduce the approaches and mathematical models used in kinematic and dynamic analysis
of machinery.
To give basic knowledge on kinematic and dynamic design of machinery.
To give basic knowledge on cam desing.
To give the basic knowledege of gears.
To give the basic knowledege of Dynamic Balancing.
Course Description:
Degrees of freedom, Grashof law, Position analysis, Velocity analysis, Acceleration analysis, Cam
design, Kinematic of gears, Static and Dynamic balancing, Governors and Gyroscope.
1. Determine the kinematic chain and mobility, and perform the kinematic analysis of a given
mechanism.
2. Apply the fundamental principles of statics and dynamics to machinery.
3. Understand and avoid/suppress certain common dynamical problems a machine may undergo.
4. Understand the fundamentals of cams and gears.
5. Understand the fundamentals of machine design for desired kinematic or dynamic performance.
