Project Name, Location, and Rationale

Porto Maravilha in Rio de Janeiro. Since the late ’80s, Porto Maravilha in Rio has
experienced a significant decline in development, and as a result, many
neighborhoods are in desolation. The city has thought up initiatives and development
projects to bring back history to the city, while simultaneously bringing modernity to
the city with the goal of improving people’s lifestyles. A study of globally successful
experiences lists five key aspects to ensure the effectiveness of the project for the
revitalization of the city center.
Porto Maravilha, over the past few decades, cities around the world have recognized
a new paradigm for sustainable development. By enhancing and mixing their uses,
updating these spaces can create sustainable urban spaces that improve the quality
of life. Focus on the power and quality of images and the suitability of urban and
ecosystem projects.
Goals and/or Objectives
The preliminary interventions have already restored to the town real archaeological
treasures, consisting of the rediscovery of the Valongo Pier. Since the modifications
underway have now no longer came about withinside the town for a protracted time, a
flavor for controversy has been rekindled, with the controversy approximately the
demolition of the Perimetral Highway and the confusion that works of this significance
create with regard to visitors conditions.
