• Certified Program: For horses other than Virginia-bred or sired but reside
in Virginia for at least six consecutive months prior to December 31 of their
two-year-old year. Owners of Virginia-certified horses earn a 25% purse

The Accredited Texas-Bred (ATB) program encourages the breeding and ownership of Thorough-
bred horses in Texas. It is an incentive program that pays owner, breeder, and stallion owner
awards to those who participate in the breeding and racing of Thoroughbreds in Texas.
• Awards are paid for accredited Texas-bred Thoroughbreds who finish in the top three in any race
in the state
• In addition to regular owner awards, if an accredited Texas-bred horse places first, second, or
third in an open-company race in Texas, the owner will receive a Bonus award. There is also
a Bonus award paid to the owners of Texas-Sired Accredited Texas-bred horses placing first,
second or third in open company races in Texas
• ATB Breeder awards are paid to eligible breeders of Accredited Texas-bred horses placing first,
second or third in out-of-state races within the US when there is not a live Thoroughbred meet

• The program is funded by breakage and 1 percent of all multiple wagers at each Texas track,

percent for first-place finishes and 15 percent for second- and third-
