HUMANS - SURVIVAL MODE

HUMAN COUNTER
On the top left of the screen you can see
how many humans you need to save to
spawn the next power up. Each time a hu-
man is saved, one of the icons turns green.
The amount of humans you need to save
for the next power up increases by one after
each spawn: you start from three, and the
count goes up until 10.

CITY MISSILES
AND HUMANS
When you deposit humans in Protector, the
city will release a certain number of self-aim-
ing missiles. Depositing more than one human
at once will result in more missiles being shot.

THE ARROW COLORS


The arrow next to your ship will point to the nearest human. If it’s blue, the human is still en-
cased within the Keepers. If it’s green, the human is free and will be subject to abductors and
other hazards. As always, the familiar red arrow indicates a human in danger.

MULTIPLIER UP
Some humans are classified as “se-
cret”. These secret humans are
unlocked if your multiplier is high
enough during the release window.
Pay attention to the green glow be-
hind the multiplier to understand if
things are going well or not – if you
don’t see any, you will instantly lose
the secret human and hear a very
specific sound effect. However, if
the number is high enough, you’ll see
it flash and a human will be released
from the multiplier itself.

MULTIPLIER COLORS
Never breaking the multiplier is hard, and for good reasons. The multiplier influences
most of your final score, so keeping it up is supposed to be hard.
As you probably know, the color of the multiplier goes from green (meaning: all good),
to yellow (you need to perform an action soon), to red (about to break). The time in
between these status changes according to the difficulty level, getting shorter as the
difficulty increases.

When a power up is released, you can
decide to let it be. If you do so, the next
time a power up is released the first one
will automatically turn into a “Multiplier Up”
power up.
“Multiplier Up” increases your multiplier
by 1 – consider this technique if you’re
going for score: the higher the risk, the
greater the reward.

Depositing humans gives you points and a multiplier increase. Depositing more humans
at once will give you a larger bonus than when you deposit them one by one. For exam-
ple, you will receive more points and multiplier bonus if you deposit four humans at once,
than if you deposited the humans two by two.

RAPID DEPOSIT AND

Just like in Arcade, you can deposit hu-
mans for a points combo if you do it while
the arrows pointing to the city are blue. The
first humans rewards you with 1 000 points,
and every successive human adds another
1 000 points on top of the previous sum.

Once you’ve deposited enough humans


to flip the level, you’ll notice the arrows
turning gold and some fireworks in the
background. Depositing humans during this
time will reward you with bonus tokens, in
addition to the bonus you get from the quick
deposits. Each bonus token increases your
multiplier.

SHIELD TOKENS
Collecting two shield tokens grants you a Bonus Shield which adds 25 % to your multipli-
er until you take a hit. While the Bonus Shield is active, you will receive extra multiplier bo-
nus for every human you deposit.

BONUS TOKENS
The way in which you collect bonus tokens dropped by enemies determines their value.
If you pick the token up from the ground, it will be worth 100 points and increase your
multiplier. If the token is in the air, but you are on the ground whilst you collect it, it will be
worth 200 and increase your multiplier more. If both the player and the token are in the air,
you’ll get 1 500 points and increase your multiplier further. Remember, if your house gets
hit, your multiplier will drop for every health point the house loses, until it reaches a whole
number. That means that your effective multiplier will not decrease, but the progress to-
wards a higher one will.

Also: the tokens you get from combo groups and phase ends are more valuable than the
normal tokens, and are valued up to 5 000 points.

BOOSTING
Boosting in RESOGUN is not only vital to
escape enemy waves, but should also be
considered as a weapon to ram and destroy
swarms from the inside.
As you probably noticed, the end of each
boost is accompanied by an explosion: the
longer you boost, the bigger the explosion.
Also, keep in mind that each enemy you
hit while boosting will slightly recharge the
boost, allowing for really long and devastat-
ing charges.

ly turn blue? Deliver a second human while
they are still blue and see what happens to
your score. Quick!

THE OVERDRIVE
MINIGAME
In RESOGUN, there’s a way to make the
Overdrive bestow more points than usual.
Activate Overdrive with R1, and don’t release
the button until the outward circle that forms
around the ship enters the smaller circle defined by the Boost and Overdrive bar. Release at
the right time and an explosion will wipe out a few extra enemies around your ship.

THE RETRO CAMERA
If you dig into the options menu, you’ll notice the possibility to set the camera mode to
“Retro”. The main difference between Standard and Retro camera mode is that in Retro
mode the camera doesn’t pan vertically. It’s a bit less spectacular, but it gives you a better
view of the play field.

REMOTE PLAY
RESOGUN for PS4 can be played remotely on PSVita. For
added comfort, you can remap Throw Human and Bomb to
the front face buttons of your PSVita. You can do so di-
rectly from the Options menu of the game. Try it out!
Also, keep in mind that a PSVita can be used as an
additional controller while playing local co-op.

ENEMIES VALUE

The points value of every single enemy is at
its maximum within a couple of seconds from
spawning, and starts decreasing as time goes
by until it hits 10. So for maximum results, kill’em
quick!

CUBETRON POSTMAGEDDON
Cubetron, the boss at the end of the 3rd level in Arcade Mode, is a great enemy to boost
up your score. First of all: Overdrive works wonders on the cubes he shoots out. Also, if
you’re not in a hurry, the small cubes around the level can be used to increase your mul-
tiplier bit by bit. Last but not least, have you tried pushing cubes around with boost? Try it
out!

KILL THE NORMAL


KEEPERS
Keepers can be recognized from the green
glow around them.
Once a group of Keepers is killed, a line will
extend from it and connect with a specific prison
chamber. Some Keepers leave after a while, so you
should kill them fast to avoid losing the corresponding
human.

which you have to kill them. The first one can
be recognized by a green glow and a target, while the others are marked in red. If you acci-

PRECISION IS EVERYTHING
When trying to hurl the wrecking ball around the level, pay attention to the timing of the
detonation (see Overdrive Minigame). The more precise the explosion, the faster the ac-
celeration.

WRECKING BALL EVOLVED
The red wrecking ball will evolve if you hit enough enemies with it. The first evolution hap-
pens after the wrecking combo reaches 1 000, and the second evolution after you have
vanquished enough foes to reach a wrecking combo of 2 000. In its evolved forms the
wrecking ball increases in radius, turning you into the ultimate demolisher.

NEAR MISS Bonus


If you like living dangerously, consider go-
ing for the Near Miss Bonus. Each time any
wrecking ball brushes by your ship, you get
10 000 extra points.

SHIP ATTRIBUTES
The best ship configuration to play Demoli-
tion sees your Agility maxed out. You’re not
going to need much Boost or Overdrive in
this mode.

FOLLOW YOUR BEAMS
Beams are very useful to understand at a glance what the
position of the wrecking ball is (red beam) and where to
find the next power up (green beam).

HOW TO SLING
Extra balls can be a bit tricky to sling the first time
around. Remember: once released, they will appear in
the opposite direction of your ship’s trajectory.

THE WRECKING COMBO


Each enemy destroyed with the red wrecking ball increases the wrecking combo in the
upper left corner of the screen by 1, or 2 when supercharged. Orange balls, on the other
hand, increase the counter only by 0.2. Plan accordingly.

MOAR EnemIES
Don’t feel like starting the Armageddon right away? No worries, if you wait for 60 seconds
at the beginning of the game, the yellow bricks will self-destruct and more enemies will
spawn.

FALLEN HEROES
Fallen Heroes mark how long you survived in the previ-
ous run. Over the Fallen Hero you’ll see a percentage in-
dicating how far you currently are from your previous per-
formance.
However, be aware that the marker will appear a bit
earlier in the game each time you die trying to reach
a Fallen Hero.
Collecting a Fallen Hero in normal conditions will
get you with a Powershield and 100 000 points.
If you’re already equipped with a normal shield,
you’ll be awarded a Powershield and 200 000
points, and if you are already sporting
a Powershield, you’ll get 500 000
points and the screen will be
cleared by a Shockwave.

MONUMENTS
Monuments are there to re-
mind you of the five people
immediately over you in the lead-
erboards. What’s displayed on the
level is influenced by your score set-
tings (Global, Friends Score or My Best).
If you pick “My Best”, you’ll see only your
own highscore monument.

HUMAN ARROWS
In Survival Mode, you’ll be able to tell the
dropping point of the next humans from the
little green arrows on the top of the screen.
Of course, the green arrow next to the
ship is also indicating the nearest human to
rescue.

SHIELDS
In Survival Mode, if you collect two shields in a row, you’ll get a
Powershield. A Powershield doesn’t only make you invulnera-
ble to the first bullet that hits you, but it also maxes out all the
ship’s attributes. Attributes will be reverted to their original
value once the shield is lost.
Collecting three shields in a row will immediately re-
lease a Shockwave that wipes out all enemies on the
screen.

SENTINELS
Each Day features three Sentinels. If de-
stroyed, Sentinels release a Shock-
wave that wipes the screen and
accelerate the passing of the
Day. However, you must be
quick – leave one unattended
for too long and it will leave
Avernus. That means no
Shockwave and a longer Day.

OVER TIME
With each passing Day enemies, humans (both
in regards of spawning and falling speed) and
bullets become faster – but you don’t. It’s not a
linear progression either: the longer you survive,
the more you’ll notice things getting hectic. Time
to show off those ninja reflexes of yours!

SUPER BOOST
The Super Boost is an enhanced version of the regular Boost. You can let go of the boost
button and change directions if you so desire. If you boost through enough enemies, your
boost meter will refill itself. All enemies killed while the Super Boost is active are worth 1 000
points.

SUPER OVERDRIVE
The Super Overdrive is an enhanced version of the regular Overdrive. It’s more powerful, it
lasts longer and has a fixed duration, regardless of the number of points distributed to the
Overdrive attribute. It’s also more awesome.

Collecting bonus tokens in rapid succession will increase their worth. The value of the suc-
cessive tokens depends on the value of the initial token, for example if the first token is worth
100 points, the second will be 200 points. Worth increases vary according to the current mul-
tiplier and the pick up modality (mid-air, ground or dropped from above).

you can employ your Boost ability to put some space in between you and your adversary.
