Reges Oceanfront Resort Now Smoke-Free

The Jewel of the Crest smoke-free despite veto

WILDWOOD CREST, N.J., April 12, 2023 - Local family owned and operated Reges
Oceanfront Resort is going smoke-free on their beaches despite Gov. Chris Christie's veto on the
ban of smoking on beaches, waterfronts and public parks.

“Here at the Reges Oceanfront Resort we are committed to keeping our guests safe and healthy
as well as keeping our local beaches clean,” said President Anthony Mollica.

Being exposed to secondhand smoke can increase the risk of blood clots and hurt blood vessels
as well as trigger asthma attacks according to a study conducted by the New York City Parks.
Smoking causes risk to smokers as well as non-smokers around them.

The strip of beach in front of the resort is privately owned by Reges Oceanfront Resort. By
establishing a smoke-free beach the resort is hoping to see a decrease in litter on the beach. They
are also hoping to create a more family friendly environment.

“Our beaches will be smoke free year round starting on May 1, 2023. While we realize this
might be hard to understand for some of our patrons, we hope it does not take away from the
satisfaction you have experienced with us over the years,” added Mollica.

Beaches around the Reges Oceanfront Resort will continue to allow smoking but the resort's
stretch of beach (the lifeguard tower on the right of Pier 26 to the lifeguard tower to the left of
Pier 27) will now be a smoke-free area for the benefit of their guests.
