You can stagger the increases, so the base is more circular.

NOTE: All the rnds start with a ch 1. This does NOT count as a st. The rnds end with a sl st, which is
worked in the first sc.

Rnd 1: With color A. Begin with a magic ring and work 6 sc into the ring. End with a sl st. (6)

Rnd 2: Ch 1. Work 2 sc in each st. End with a sl st. (12)

Rnd 3: Ch 1. Work *sc, (2sc in the next st)* Repeat * to * to the end of the rnd. End with a sl st. (18)

Rnd 4: Ch 1. Work *2 sc, (2sc in the next st)* Repeat * to * to the end of the rnd. End with a sl st. (24)

Rnd 5: Ch 1. Work *3 sc, (2sc in the next st)* Repeat * to * to the end of the rnd. End with a sl st. (30)

Rnd 6: Ch 1. Work *4 sc, (2sc in the next st)* Repeat * to * to the end of the rnd. End with a sl st. (36)

Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

Attaching the leather straps:

Trim the leather straps to 4” & 5 ½” (10 & 14 cm) lengths. Punch a hole in both ends with a leather
punch. Fold the pieces over the edge of the basket and secure with a rivet.
