Topic Build-Up Play

Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of the importance of physical activity
and physical fitness through participation in and assessment of physical activities.
Learning At the end of the lesson, the Grade VI learners will be able to:

Direction: The teacher will group the class into 4 teams and each
team will be given a skills or drills on pickle ball and analyze how
this skills or drills play. Every member of each team must
demonstrate the given skills.

1.) Gripping/Handling

3.) Backhand Play
4.) Basic Stance

At the end of the lesson, the Grade VI learners will be able to:
a. identifies and differentiate the drills in sports specifically pickle
ball,
b. demonstrates the proper movements and procedure of racket
handling (forehand and backhand) and basic stance; and
c. recognizes the value of build-up play in sports.
PRESENTATION

To strengthen the concepts gained by the learners in the activities the Presentation,
teacher will be having a lecture-discussion and letting the learners Paddle and
demonstrate what teacher is trying to perform. ball, Video

This will discuss the gripping/handling, forehand drive,
backhand drive, and body position on pickle ball.

1. Gripping/Handling a paddle.
a. The pickleball paddle should rest more in your fingers
than on the palm of your hand (to avoid choking the
pickleball handle). You should have a loose hold but
enough grip on the handle so that the pickleball paddle
does not fall out of your hands.

2. Basic Stance
a. Feet wide apart, knees bent, upper body hunched forward,
both arms stretched in front of you, and bat in neutral position.
The ready position remains unchanged.

3. Forehand Drive
a. A forehand drive is an offensive shot. It's played with a
little topspin, but it's mostly a flat shot that can be very
strong.
b. made with the racket held such that the wrist is facing
the direction of the stroke.
4. Backhand flick
a. Backhand flick is a type of dink volley that employs
speed, spin, and power to catch an opponent off guard.
The shot is employed in dink rallies and uses table
tennis methods to generate a topspin effect on the ball
that is difficult to return.
b. A backhand is when you hit a ball with your arm across
your body and the back of your hand facing the ball with
a racket or paddle. Some tennis players find hitting a
backhand difficult.

PRACTICE

Direction: The entire class will form a line outside of the ball
classroom, and the teacher will serve the ball to his students.
The first student in line must do the four abilities discussed,
followed by another, and so on.

After the activity, the teacher will give 30 seconds to let the
learners rest and go back to their seat and later on give
instruction to arrange the chairs.

where you enjoy the most?
2. Did you experience having difficulty performing those drills?
3. Why is it we need to perform those drills?
4. Can you name one of the drills you perform? Then, show it
to your classmate.
5. Based on the activity, give any suggestions to perform
properly the drills.

PERFORMANCE

student is required to do. The player must serve the ball sheets
beyond the net and inside the zone/area.

Direction: Every student must serve the ball beyond the net and
inside the zone/area with the given skills.

Handling – 10 pts
Serving – 10 pts
Inside – 10 pts

Evaluation

Direction: Write True if the statement is true or positive effect
related to the sports discussed and F if not.

1. Playing pickle ball with basic skills are not necessary.


2. Playing pickle ball will help you to improve your social skills.
3. Playing sports specifically pickle ball won’t help you
physically.
4. Forehand drive is the common attack skills used in
pickeball.
5. Basic stance is not necessary.

Assignment
“Ready, Strike! “
Direction: Watch a videos in YouTube that will help you to
understand more on how this pickle ball play and what are the
extra skills needed to win or technique. Next meeting teacher
will divide the students into 4 and have a small tournament in
pickle ball.

1st – 40 points + Biscuits
2nd – 30 points + Biscuits
3rd – 25 points + Biscuits
