Hi everyone, we are representatives of Group 1.

Today, we are going to

have a presentation about the United Kingdom, considered The United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
-Language
In the modern world, many countries speak the language of English.
Therefore it became the essential language used to communicate and work with
people from abroad. English originated as the language of the United Kingdom.
English is the world’s most widely spoken language, with some 1.5 billion
speakers, even though it’s native to fewer than 400 million.
-Geographical features
The United Kingdom, the heart of Europe, consisting of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland-as well as the northern portion of the island of Irland., is one of
the biggest countries and territories in the world. Its capital is London. The total
area of the United Kingdom is approximately 244,820 square kilometers.
England is mostly the economic, and political center of the United Kingdom.
Most of the plains are in England.
Today, more than 80 percent of the people in the United Kingdom live in
England. London, the capital of both England and the U.K., is home to just under
nine million residents. Nearly half of the U.K.’s population is Christian, with most
belonging to Protestant churches. The country is also home to large and growing
communities of Muslims, Hindus, and Jews.
Oil, iron, and steel products are some of the United Kingdom’s main
exports or goods sold to other countries. The country also exports electrical
equipment and parts for automobiles and aircraft. Its main crops produced
include barley, wheat, and potatoes.
-History
The history of the United Kingdom can be traced back thousands of years,
with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Stone Age.
In the 13th century, England took control of Wales. The Welsh territory was
officially united with England in 1536.
After many battles to keep its independence, Scotland eventually united
with England in 1707. The union of the three nations—England, Wales, and
Scotland—became the Kingdom of Great Britain.
By the late 1600s, England had gained control of all of Ireland. Ireland
officially became united with England, Scotland, and Wales in 1801, forming the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
The 16th and 17th centuries saw the rise of the British Empire, which
became one of the largest empires in history and had an enormous impact on the
world. It used to be ruled by many emperors and thus periodically converted into
a civilized nation. Emperors of the United Kingdom also conquered many other
countries to make colonies of Great Britain in several regions. For example, North
America and Sub-continent were also colonies of Great Britain.
-Political structures
Today, the country is a constitutional monarchy, which means the reigning
king or queen is the head of state but doesn’t have any real political power, their
role is enormously ceremonial.
The old council of advisers eventually expanded into a government body
called Parliament. That’s why today, the United Kingdom’s system of governing is
called a parliamentary democracy. The head of the government is the prime
minister, who is usually the leader of the political party in charge of Parliament.

-Things to do
British people also like to go on holiday in the UK: in England, Northern
Ireland, Scotland or Wales. Warm weather and sun are not guaranteed in the UK
of course! What can young British people do on a UK holiday? Here are a few
examples – Alton Towers, in Staffordshire, is one of the top UK theme parks. It is
famous for its terrifying rides and is very popular with teenagers. You can sign up
to try their new roller coaster ride on their website. The Eden Project is an
environmental project in Cornwall, southwest England. It has enormous domes
that contain thousands of plants from all around the world. As well as plants you
can also see top bands play at the Eden Project. This year the Eden Sessions at the
center included Tim Minchin, Example, Frank Turner, Chase & Status, Plan B,
Blink-182, Noah And The Whale, and The Vaccines.
Taking your tent or caravan to stay on a campsite is popular, especially in
the south of England. Newquay, in Cornwall, on the south coast of England, is a
favorite camping area for families and teenagers. Newquay has great beaches,
with good waves for surfers as well as lots of nightlife. Wild camping means you
take your tent, sleeping bag, food, water (and toilet paper!) and you find a quiet
place to spend the night in the countryside or hills away from roads and houses.
Wild camping is legal only in some parts of Britain.
