Storm Damage Shuts Down Australia Zoo
A major clean-up is underway at Australia Zoo after it was hit hard by last night’s
storm.
The damage forced a decision for the zoo to remain closed today.
A spokesman said all the animals were safe as they had dens to provide protection
from the tempest.
“The decision to close during the clean-up was not made lightly, however our guest,
animal, and staff safety is our priority at all times.” He said.
The zoo is expected to re-open Monday morning.

II. Answer the question based on the text!

Tulungagung: Two died and one missing after a minivan slipped off a ferryboat and plunged
into River Brantas in Ngunut two days ago. A nine-month-old baby and three other
passengers were successfully evacuated.
AKP Suparno, the chief of Ngunut police department, stated that the accident
happened when the minivan driven by Samingan went down from the steep bank into the
boat. However, as the minivan landed on the boat, the driver unintentionally stepped on the
accelerator. This made the minivan jumped into the river. The vehicle was dragged by the
strong current for several meters before it was finally entangled under bamboo trees. The
boatmen had to break the minivan window glasses to pull out the victims. One of the
survivors, Karsilah, said they often went to some villages north of the river through that river
crossing to shorten the route. Otherwise, they had to pass the bridge either 16 kilometers
away in Tulungagung or 17 kilometers away in Blitar.
