THE SAIPAN CHURCH OF CHRIST Baptism and Salvation Salvation is by the grace of God through faith (Eph. 2:8). It is a free gift (Rom, 5:15). And the Bible says that salvation is given to all " who The Bible plainly teaches that salvation is the obey Him" (Heb. 5:9). free gift of God and that man, through faith, must accept that salvation. Some have accused the churches of Christ of teaching "water salvation." This is false. We teach salvation in Jesus Christ just as the Bible teaches. Jesus, Peter and Paul spoke and/or wrote concerning salvation and how itis connected to. ys em baptism. And if they taught it that way then we are in good company. In this, article we will look at all the verses which speak of both baptism and of salvation. There is a certain pattern in these verses as you will see. Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, | say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5). Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Baptism and Salvation (continued) Testament that is said to put a person into Christ, Romans 10:10 says that a person "..believes unto righteousness, and. confession is "2 Cor. 7:10 made unto salvation. says that "repentance" leads to "salvation." The word "unto" is different from "into." A person can come “unto” but he will not be in the building, A person can come "unto" Christ and not bein Christ. Baptism is the only thing the Bible says will put a person “into Christ" (Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3, 4). It is not “water salvation,” it is obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for He is "the author of etemal salvation to all who obey Him'" (Heb. 5:9). A person who is not baptized (immersed in water for the remission of sins) is not "in Christ" and is not saved Reflect: Phen do you feel closest: to God?
