The Word Problems on finding Volume of Regular Shapes

3. Given a cubical gift box has a side length of 20 inches. By sketching its 3D shape, find
the volume of the box.

4. The base of a prism is a trapezoid whose height is 12 yards. The parallel bases of the
trapezoid measure 11 yards and 7 yards. If the length of the prism is 2 yards, find its
volume (sketch the 3D shape).

5. A rectangular prism has a length of 22 ft and a width of 10 ft. By sketching its 3D shape,
determine the height of the rectangular prism if its volume is 1,540 ft 3 .

6. Find the width of a cuboid, given that it has a length of 7 cm, a height of 10 cm and a
volume of 490 cm3 .

7. If the volume of a cylinder is 160 cm3 and the height of the cylinder is 16 cm, what is the
radius of the cylinder nearest to the tenth?

8. The base of a pyramid is a triangle whose base is 11 yards and height is 19 yards. By
sketching its 3D shape, determine the volume of the pyramid if its height is 7 yards.
Round your answer to two decimal places.

9. The diagram shows a trapezoidal prism.

Given that:
The cross-section of the prism is a trapezium.
The lengths of the parallel sides of the trapezium are 8 cm and 6 cm.
The distance between the parallel sides of the trapezium is 5 cm.
The length of the prism is 20 cm.
Work out the volume of the prism.
