NASA Successfully Launches Psyche Spacecraft
NASA's Psyche Spacecraft began its six-year, 2.2 billion-mile journey to a metal-rich asteroid by the same name
orbiting the sun, last friday, october 13, 2023.

At 10:19 a.m. Eastern Time Zone, Friday aboard a SpaceX Falcon heavy rocket from Launch pad 39A at NASA's
Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the said spacecraft is now on its voyage to an asteroid of the same name, a
metalrich world that could tell us more about the formation of rocky planets.

According to NASA Japan, the space craft is expected to arrive on 2029 since it takes about six years to travel
the 2.2 billion miles distance, but will continue to inform and notify us about updates on Psyche.

The Psyche spacecraft will use massive solar arrays to power a super-efficient solar electric propulsion system,
the first time the Hall-effect thrusters have been used beyond the Moon. This will also be the first time NASA
tests how lasers could boost data transmission from deep space much like replacing old telephone wires with fiber
optics on Earth.
