Answer the questions below according to 04 Readings 1.
1. Has McLuhan’s ideal of a ‘global village’ become reality?
 We first heard the term "global village" from McLuhan, who uses it to characterize a
society where people are more connected to one another because of advanced technology
and globally distributed media. McLuhan defines the global village as a virtual
community in which people use the internet and other platforms to communicate with
one another, regardless of how far away they live. Particularly in my opinion right now,
McLuhan's vision of the global village has come to pass. We are advised to stay indoors
during this pandemic, but because of technology, we may still communicate with one
another via the internet and other channels.

2. To what extent does global media serve as guardian of free speech, democracy, and
justice?
 Global media is a technological advancement that acts as a link to other nations, allowing
us to communicate via mass media and share ideas, viewpoints, views, and opinions
while remaining geographically separated. Since everyone is always thinking, it is
important for us to express our opinions and behaviors through the global media, which
allows them to be widely disseminated worldwide, the global media expands the right to
free speech. One way we can express our opinions is by making comments on social
media about a particular debate or topic.

3. What is the ‘message’ of new social media?

 Everyone can use new social media as a means of communication to interact, exchange
ideas, viewpoints, and thoughts. It also allows us to discuss issues or disagreements
locally or even nationally. The speed of communication can be improved with new social
media. Communication about events within and outside of our nation is therefore faster.
And we can now communicate with each other in novel ways thanks to modern social
media. Let's use new social media responsibly, even though it can be manipulated at
times and is beneficial for communication.
