1.) What is the "story" behind your business?

Together with my two high school friends, we started Digital Express Solutions in February 2015. Since
we have limited financial capital, we salvaged unused/damaged computers from our friends; buying
them cheap, with some given as charity. It is a computer shop which rents computers, accept printing
jobs, encoding, pc repairs and IT related services.

For the first two years, we are merely getting even from the operational expenses. Since mobile phones
at that time are getting more advanced, less people are going to computer shops. That is when we
decided to tap the T-shirt printing business. Little by little we learned the trade and gained experience. It
is also the period one of our partner pursued other career opportunities.

2.) What are the salient characteristics, attributes, lifestyle, skills and traits that made you sustain the
business venture?

For me, PERSEVERANCE is the most important characteristic an aspiring entrepreneur should have. That
and the belief in yourself and what you are doing. With perseverance you can learn anything and
develop the skills needed to get the job done. You can study all the theories in school but without hard
work, I don’t believe that your business will succeed.

3.) How well do you fit the entrepreneurial profile?

According to the definition, I can say that I fit most of the criteria. For example, when doing a certain
project, I always try to find new ways to add value to our products.

4.) What advantages and disadvantages do you see in owning the business?

As the saying goes, “Time is Gold.” Time is your friend and your enemy when managing your own
business. You can say it is an advantage because you can manage your own time. You don’t have anyone
to tell you what to do with your time and what project to want to finish first. But without discipline and
proper time management, it can become a handicap. It is a balancing act between work, family and
friends.

5.) What advise would you offer to someone considering launching a business?

My advice is start a business that you are familiar with and love doing it. Never go with what is
“trending”. Trends decline and change; go with the ones that you are accustomed with. Having a
business is a never ending process. Demands change, new technology are always being developed. You
must know how to be flexible and learn to adapt on those changes.
