Executive Summary
The report contains all about the information that we have in previous day and 1 week in
OBN,FBC,ICT park and Oromia ICT park.
We gained a lot from these organizations, like system automation, basics of ICT staff
maintenance, including computer hardware and software maintenance, and more.
In this report we included background history of the organization, the main services, and the
main and overall works what we have seen in the company. Also it has the conclusion, and
reference.
he Oromia Broadcasting Network (OBN) is an Ethiopian public Service broadcaster headquartered in
Addis Ababa,Ethiopia. It is the leading media organization in the Oromia and broadcast on Eutelsat
via the Ethiosat platform. have 4 channel and 18 language. Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) is
a state-owned mass media company operating in Ethiopia. It have 7 language.Launched in 1994 it
focuses mostly on political, social and economical reports about Ethiopia. It operates radio and
television stations with in Ethiopia . ICT park will be constructed on a 200-hectare plot of land . Over
20 foreign-based ICT companies are presently outsourcing ICT-related services to Ethiopia via outlets
they established in the country. They have five zone. Those are Manufactured zone, Business Zone,
Research and Deployment zone ,Administrative zone and Commercial zone.

Borana University for providing this chance. During our internship, we would like to express
our gratitude to our supervisor,Mr.Hadho , who did his best to provide us with skills and
experience in the Network and Administration fields. We appreciate him for providing us
with the opportunity to develop knowledge through connecting with diverse sectors. We also

Introduction
1.1. General overview about the internship
1.1.1. Objective of internship
Internship has many objectives.
From the objective of internship;
 To give additional knowledge to the students
 To know which learned theoretically, by practical
 To visualize the real applications & mistake managements
 To develop the theoretical knowledge
 To improve provisional and personal skills
 Prepare students to the future work
 To ensure the quality and performance of the students
 To increase self-confidence of the students

 Students’ knowledge on the broadcasting communication will be improve.
 Students have more self-confidence on the working with different electronic
materials.
 Students are capable to do in ICT canter and in other system administration.
1.2. Background of the organization
Oromia Broadcasting Network (OBN) Organization started November 23, 1999
E.C under Abbaa Duulaa Gammadaa, Oromia regional state president (at that time) in
Oromia region at Adama town, Bole sub city. To fulfill the media needs and interest
of Oromo people by showing the culture, tradition, historical background, ethics and
language of the Oromo people living inside and outside of the country, which were
weakened by early Ethiopian leaders. Oromia radio is established on March 16, 2000
E.C and Television established on March 16, 2001 E.C. And also Finfinnee FM 92.10MHz is
started on February 22, 2002 E.C. Before 2001, OBN TV is working onETV media as one
program named as STVO (Sagantaa Televizhinii Oromiyaa byAfaan Oromoo Language). In
2001, OBN became an independent organization. Thefly way of live (oduu) is being started.
OBN organized with resource and human power in August 2002 E.C. At the
first time, the organization used to have both electronic and print media services. Now
the organization has only the electronics media (meaning it has Radio, Television and
website). According to the media mapping survey, its employs are journalists ,technician and
part time workers, totally 300 at 2003 E.C. But now the employers aremore than 600. New
channel also added in 2012 E.C, called OBN Horn Africa. Thenew channel will broadcast
news, programs and various entertainment shows in Afaan Oromoo, English, Arabic, Somali,
Tigrigna, Swahili, Amharic, Sidamigna and other
languages. The government maintains complete monopoly on television broadcasting,
but it has licensed a handful of private radio stations. The basic function of OBN is to
connect people through voice transfer via radio and television. Media is becoming a
very common measure of communication in our country. The number of media user is
increasing day to day. It is a very attractive market for mobile connection providers.
OBN have 16 branches of TV transmitter zone; there are 3 AM radio transmitter
and nine (9) FM radio transmitter in different zones of Oromia region. Slogan of this
organization is “OBN Sagalee Uuummataa” by afaan Oromo and ‘OBN voice of the
peoples’ by English language.
Fana Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) is the first private broadcaster of Ethiopia. It was
founded in 1990 as Radio Fana and started to transmit a Free-to-Air Radio Station which currently
possesses high-quality audibility and reaches a World Wide audience. It broadcasts via SW, MW FM
and Live Streaming Internet Radio on www.fanabc.com/live transmission. FANA TV started
broadcasting in Ethiopia on September 2017. it focuses mostly on political, social and economical
reports about Ethiopia. It operates radio and television stations within Ethiopia.
ICT Park, which is situated on 200 hectares of land on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, has been one of
the 13 industrial parks under the corporation since 2018, following the dissolution of the Ministry of
Communication and Information Technology. The park now hosts more than 20 companies,
including Safaricom, Wingu, and Red Fox, that secured land to build a data center. Oromia ICT
park it one software developer company. This company three main zone.

1.2.1. Mission of the organization

The mission of Oromia Broadcasting Network is to transmit periodical information


and entertainment programs by using electronic media and websites that provides
awareness of building democracy for people, as well as to announce Oromo culture,
traditions, Gadaa Rules and regulations, norms and creating relationship between
different class of Ethiopia with Oromo peoples and also with foreign country.
The mission of Fana Broadcasting Corporation is to transmit periodical information
and entertainment programs by using electronic media and websites that provides
awareness of building democracy for people, as well as to announce Ethiopia culture,
traditions, regulations, norms and creating relationship between different class of Ethiopia
with its and also with foreign country.
The mission of ICT park and Oromia ICT park is create programmer and software developer
with in country. Creating a destination for overseas investment and a generation of foreign
earnings was considered a secondary mission.

In future Oromia Broadcasting Network became the most preferable media in the
Oromia region, competence within the country and in the east Africa the most media
have being developed and movement of social development and give a lot of result in
the region. Now in Oromia region the Oromia Broadcasting Network is the most
popular media of information, competent within country media.
In future Fana Broadcasting Corporation to be the most preferable media in
Ethiopia ,competence within the country and in the east Africa the most media
have being developed and movement of social development and give a lot of result in
