What is Gamification ?

Gamification is the application of game-design


elements and game principles in non-game
contexts. It can also be defined as a set of
activities and processes to solve problems by
using or applying the characteristics of game
elements.

elements of game to motivate, improve user
engagement, organizational productivity, flow,
learning etc.

Researches have shown, when done well, gamification
releases neurotransmitters (Chemicals used in our brain to
send signals)
Dopamine – Chemical driving force of learning
association, released when we are surprised. Helps
regulate attention and emotional response.

Oxytocin – Helps us to develop relationship with the


characters and feel involved in the plot. Associated with
Empathy.

Serotonin – Difference between feeling unhappy or


content. It contributes to wellbeing and happiness.

Endorphins – Gives you the strength to power through


challenges and they reward us when we finish them.
