4 Safety
All handling, lifting, installation and testing shall be done according to local laws and yard standard.
Lifting drawings are supplied for safe handling of the equipment. The rigging needs to be selected and
checked by a competent person.
Use competent personnel with the appropriate certifications for the different jobs.
Paint
Paint issues to be resolved using the appropriate procedure and RAL code.
Installation
To get the best possible result after installation, Seaonics recommend the Tender platform and coaming/frame
to be installed together and aligned as one piece. If the tender platform and coaming/frame are to be installed
separately the final result after installation can in worst case deviate too much from tolerances given in this
installation manual and some work on installation will have to be corrected, if this is the case, seaonics cannot
stay responsible for any cost or delay this may lead to.
Damages
Any damages needs to be assessed to see whether it needs to be repaired before installation commences or
might be repaired after installation. Seaonics shall be part of this evaluation.

Lifting
Handling
1) Handle all equipment with care to avoid damages to components, steel structure and so on. If damage is
done it must be reported to Seaonics immediately to assess if new parts are needed or any other actions
are to be taken, before installation work resumes.

Verification
1) Make sure that the equipment serial number and design corresponds with the designated position on the
vessel according to deck and railing structure and fundament drawing/GA
Foundation levelling/installation
1) Make approx. marking where the fundament plates and frame interface are to be positioned according to
ship structure and fundament drawing/GA/Dimensional sketch
2) Clean for debris and grind of any paint within the markings and 50-100mm extra on the outside of the
marking to have space for alignment of tender platform assembly afterwards.
3) Verify that within the markings the ship’s structure has a tolerance according to fundament drawing/GA.
Maximum vertical and horizontal deviation is +/- 2mm unless otherwise stated in the drawings, component
specific information or otherwise in this document.
4) Spot weld and test open and closing of platform with temporary lifting equipment to make sure tender
platform and frame are installed correctly, before welding foundation and frame permanently to vessel.
5) If opening and closing of tender platform is done without any problems or interferences and platform is
installed correctly acc. To relevant GA/Drawing and is found accepted, it can be welded permanently to
ship foundations.
6) When the foundation of the tender platform is correctly installed the main open/close actuators can be
installed.
Make sure that actuators will have at least +10-15mm extra stroke after installation in both end positions.
7) After installation of actuators, run the tender platform to simulate the interface and interference for gasket,
make adjustments if needed. If ok, the actuator foundations can be welded
8) After welding and painting, the gasket can be installed and glued acc. To Main assembly drawing, make
sure platform have interference with gasket as stated in point above and shown in figure no. 1, C-
TYPICAL.
9) When all interfaces are correctly installed and tender platform can open and close properly by use of
actuators, the locking devices need to be tested;
run tender platform in closed position, be aware and check that open/close actuators will pull the platform
extra inwards for “helping” locking actuators engage locks to position, and after locks is engaged the
open/close actuators relaxes the load on locking bolts, see figure no. 2
Adjust shim if needed to contain the right gasket pressure and check that all round bar on platform is
touching gasket with no clearances (tolerances is +/-2mm)
Make adjustment if needed.
10) After all points stated above, the support device can be installed on to vessel structure.
Make sure that when tender platform is in open position, all loads will transmit to the support device.
Make adjustments if needed, see figure no. 3

Alignment
Alignment, access and serviceability of components must be ensured during installation. Make sure that:
Tender platform must be aligned with coaming/frame as accurate as possible, this have strict
tolerances to ensure that gasket will be as effective to weather tightness as possible acc. GA, for
tolerances see figure no.1

If the current installation of the equipment does not fulfil above stated, access will have to be ensured by fixed
ladders, extra platforms, extra grease lines or similar provided by yard/customer.

Welding
1) The equipment shall be appropriately protected against hot work (welding, cutting etc.). Failure to properly
protect the equipment may cause the equipment to wear out/fail prematurely.
2) Weld according to yard/design instructions and procedures. Usually the welds are not defined in the
drawing since deck structure is not available for Seaonics.

Bolts
Foundation bolts to be tightened to table below unless otherwise stated in equipment specific information,
when signing this document, the bolts have been properly fastened acc. To torque table below, and this
torque have been checked and confirmed by yard supervisor, if torque is not available, this can be sent on
request.

8 Electrical system
All work on electrical systems shall be done according to local laws and yard standard, and be performed
competent person, with the appropriate certifications. The installation work is described in the general
electrical installation manual, SEGD-ERE-001 and in project specific drawings/lists.
When equipment is to be prepared for operation grease must be applied according to component manual.
Extra protection might be needed for the product. Yard/owner is responsible for adequate protection of the
equipment.
Equipment is not designed for personnel to climb on it. This is both a safety hazard and equipment might get
damaged. Sensors etc. are especially vulnerable.
