Introduction
The purpose of this assignment is to discuss & prepare a report (2-3 pages) for a remote-
controlled combat robot using microcontroller, sensors, and motors. This robot will be entered
into competitive Robo Wars matches.
Objective
The objective of this assignment is to familiarize the students with the concept of robotics and
its real-world application. This assignment will require the students to work in teams to
design, build and test the combat robot. The final task is to design and build a remote-
controlled combat robot that excels in offense, defense, and agility.
Please note the following instructions:
Specifications:
1. Robot Dimensions: The robot should fit within a 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft (length x width x height)
when at rest position. It may fold and unfold to meet these dimensions.
2. Weight Limit: The robot's total weight, including batteries, weapons, and all components,
must not exceed 40 kg.
3. Power Supply: The robot must use an onboard power supply. No external off-board
power supply is allowed. The robot can draw power from a DC source with a rating not
exceeding 48 volts. Only dry-type sealed batteries (e.g., Li-Poly, Ni-MH, Li-ion) are
allowed.
4. Human Operators: Human operators must control the robot from outside the arena using
remote controls. They are not permitted to enter the competition arena once the match
begins.
5. Microcontrollers and Sensors: Teams can use ready-made microcontroller boards and
sensor kits to enhance their robot's functionality.
6. Weapon Attachment: Weapons must remain connected to the robot throughout the
match. If a weapon is released, whether intentionally or unintentionally, the robot will be
disqualified.
Weaponry Allowed:
All kinds of weapons with edges and spikes. Hammers of all kinds. For example:
Rammer
Spinner
Wedge
Forbidden Weapons:
Activity Steps:
1. Team Formation:
Add one more member to your previous team (In Asg-1) with diverse roles (engineers,
programmers, strategists, and a team captain).
Team members introduce themselves, share skills, and establish roles and responsibilities.
Research and analyze previous Robo Wars competitions, successful robot designs, and
strategies.
Develop a strategic plan for your combat robot, considering offensive and defensive
tactics.
Procure the necessary materials and components based on your design plans.
Maintain a detailed budget and expense log for the financial analysis.
Grading Rubrics:
Prepare comprehensive documentation that includes design plans, schematics, code, and
a detailed safety analysis.
Emphasize safety protocols and considerations in robot construction and operation.
Collaboratively design your combat robot, focusing on chassis structure, weapon systems,
and mobility.
Construct detailed design plans, including CAD drawings or sketches or MATLAB
