BrainChip has taped out its latest AKD1500
event-based machine learning chip on the low
power GlobalFoundries 22nm fully depleted
silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) technology. The
reference design is a key milestone is part of
validating BrainChip’s IP across different
processes and foundries.
INFINEON'S NEW 160 V 3-PHASE
GATE DRIVER IC INTEGRATES PMU
Infineon announces the expansion of its
MOTIX™ family for automotive and industrial
motor control applications with the introduction
of a new three-phase gate driver IC. The 160 V
silicon-on-insulator (SOI) gate driver features
an integrated power management unit (PMU)
and is available in a QFN-32 package with a
thermally efficient exposed power pad.

X-BAND CMOS RECTIFIER WITH 4% ENHANCING THE PERFORMANCE OF

EFFICIENCY AT −35 DBM FOR
WIRELESS POWER TRANSMISSION
This paper proposes a radio frequency (RF)
rectifier topology for low-power wireless power
transmission (WPT) applications in the X band.
It is demonstrated that a clever optimization of
the bias voltage enables the rectifier to achieve
greater sensitivity and efficiency than previous
works at X band. The rectifier was designed in
a 45 nm silicon-on-insulator (SOI) process
and operates at a frequency of 9.64 GHz.

THE PHOTONIC INTEGRATED
SENSING SYSTEM BY APPLYING
FREQUENCY INTERROGATION
Lab-on-a-chip systems are currently one of the
most promising areas in the development of
ultra-compact sensor systems. This paper
presents a solution for “lab-on-a-chip” device
realization, consisting of a sensor and an
interrogator based on a silicon-on-insulator
(SOI) integrated photonics platform. The
proposed solution opens an opportunity for
fully integrated implementation of a photonic
“laboratory-on-a-chip” unit.

ONSEMI AND VW GROUP CEMENT IMEC DEMONSTRATES THE CO-
STRATEGIC COLLABORATION ON INTEGRATION OF ITS HIGH-QUALITY
SILICON CARBIDE TECHNOLOGY SIN WAVEGUIDE TECHNOLOGY

onsemi announced that it signed a strategic
agreement with Volkswagen AG (VW) to
provide modules and semiconductors that
enable a complete electric vehicle (EV) traction
inverter solution for VW’s next-generation
platform family. As part of the agreement,
onsemi will deliver in a first step its EliteSiC
1200 V traction inverter power modules.
imec announced at SPIE Photonics West (San
Francisco) that it demonstrated co-integration
of its high-quality silicon nitride waveguide
technology with its silicon photonics platform—
without performance degradation of the high-
bandwidth active devices.

VEECO ACQUIRES EPILUVAC AB TO EVALUATION OF THE STRUCTURAL,

EPITAXY EQUIPMENT MARKET
Veeco announced that it acquired Epiluvac AB,
a privately held manufacturer of chemical
vapor deposition (CVD) epitaxy systems that
enable advanced silicon carbide (SiC)
applications in the electric vehicle market.
Epiluvac’s technology platform combined with
Veeco’s global go-to-market capabilities create
a significant long-term growth driver for Veeco.

EFFICIENCY OF ZNO THIN FILMS
PREPARED USING AEROSOL
DEPOSITION
In this work, a systematic study has been
conducted to investigate the effect of
deposition cycles on the structural, optical and
dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC)
photoconversion efficiency of aerosol-
deposited ZnO thin films. The finding from this
study would be beneficial in the development
of rapid film formation for renewable energy
application in room temperature.
