SITE REPORT REGARDING THE TRIPPING ISSUE AT HOSPITAL UITM PUNCAK ALAM

This site report is regarding the frequent tripping issue at Hospital UITM Hydrotherapy pool
electrical panel board

GENERAL INFORMATION

The electrical schematic is for the Hydrotherapy pool main control board. This main control
board distributes power to the
 Hydrotherapy pool filtration pump 1
 Hydrotherapy pool filtration pump 2
 Hydrotherapy pool electrical heater 1
 Hydrotherapy pool electrical heater 2
 Hydrotherapy pool Chemical pumps and controllers
 Hydrotherapy pool incoming water supply solenoid valve
 Hydrotherapy pool movable floor, underwater light and underwater camera system
Which are located inside the pump room
TERMINOLOGY & FUNCTION

Terminology
ELCB - Earth Leakage Circuit breaker
MCB - Miniture circuit breaker

Function
ELCB - The earth leakage circuit breaker function is to break or disconnect the
circuit in the event of a ground leakage.
MCB - The miniature circuit breaker function is to break or disconnect the circuit
In the event of an excessive current flowing through the circuit

SITE REPORT

On 2nd February 2023 we attended a site complaint regarding frequent tripping of the
hydrotherapy pool main electrical panel board. When we arrived at site, we discovered that the
ELCB of the electrical panel board had tripped. The tripped ELCB would indicate that there is an
earth leakage somewhere in the system. However after resetting the ELCB, the main electrical
panel board continued to function normally.

Therefore in order to locate the earth leakage, we megger tested all our high voltage
equipments. The megger tester will inject in 250v/500/1000v DC into the circuit to detect the
resistance between the live wire and the earthing.

Our megger test results after injection 1000v DC is as follows

 Filtration pump no.1 live : ∞ Ohms
 Filtration pump no.1 Neutral : ∞ Ohms
 Filtration pump no.2 live : ∞ Ohms
 Filtration pump no.2 Neutral : ∞ Ohms
 Electrical Heater no.1 Red Phase : ∞ Mega Ohms
 Electrical Heater no.1 blue Phase : ∞ Mega Ohms
 Electrical Heater no.1 yellow Phase : ∞ Mega Ohms
 Electrical Heater no.1 neutral : ∞ Mega Ohms
 Electrical Heater no.2 Red Phase : ∞ Mega Ohms
 Electrical Heater no.2 blue Phase : ∞ Mega Ohms

CONCLUSION

Following the megger test results we can conclude that the tripping was not caused by any earth leakage
of our equipments. We will continue to monitor the situation.
