5-KILOMETER RADIUS FROM THE CITY CENTER

5-KILOMETER BLOW-UP

Cabanatuan is a city in the Philippines that has experienced rapid urbanization and expansion in recent years. Its land use is predominantly
devoted to residential and commercial areas, with some agricultural land in the surrounding rural areas. However, the city's zoning plan has
been criticized for not being comprehensive enough, resulting in inappropriate land uses and land-use conflicts. The city is experiencing urban
sprawl, with the rapid expansion of the city into neighboring municipalities and the conversion of agricultural land into residential and
commercial areas. The city also lacks green spaces, parks, and open spaces, which can lead to negative environmental and health impacts.

To address these issues, the government can invest in better infrastructure to support the growing population, such as improved transportation
and water management systems. They can also prioritize the creation of green spaces and parks to provide residents with more recreational
opportunities and to improve air quality and can implement stricter regulations on land use to prevent further environmental degradation, such
as protecting natural habitats and reducing pollution.

The use of tricycle has for a very long time been part of urban transport available to individuals in order
to meet their daily travel needs and to fill the shortages in public transport. The purpose of having a tricycle
terminal in every drop off on the road is to make it easier for people to ride and get to their destination quickly
and for them to have a choice whether to walk on the sidewalk or ride with a vehicle.

ROAD NETWORK

Skyway or small bridge in road's crossing refers to an

elevated walkway or overpass that allows pedestrians or cyclists
to safely cross over busy roads or intersections without disrupting
the flow of vehicular traffic. These structures are typically built in
urban areas where there is a high volume of pedestrian traffic or
where safety concerns exist due to heavy vehicle congestion.
Skyways or small bridges provide a safe and convenient way for
people to navigate through the city, reducing the risk of accidents
while maintaining a smooth flow of traffic. They can be either
open-air or enclosed, and sometimes they are integrated into
buildings or public transportation systems to facilitate easy access
and connectivity.
A buffer lane, on the other hand, is a physical or painted space
separating a bike lane from motor vehicle traffic or parking lanes.
THINGS TO CONSIDER IN DESIGNING ROAD NETWORK:

AREAL PERSPECTIVES
The redevelopment of Freedom Park in Cabanatuan City aims to address the typical problems encountered in the area, such as overcrowding, traffic
congestion, and lack of proper parking. The park is often congested due to food stalls located on the sidewalks, and it also serves as a center of traffic jams during
rush hours, as the Nueva Ecija high school is situated across from it. To address these issues, the project proposes the development of the lot in the middle of the park
as a food court with tables and chairs for public use. The addition of parking areas inside the park will also help to reduce traffic congestion. Furthermore, the unused
lot at the end of the park will be converted into a recreational area or a skating area for young people. To enhance the aesthetic appeal of the park, new courts,
landscapes, waterscapes, and seating areas will be added. Resting areas will also be created, where people can have picnics under the giant acacia trees. The
overall goal of this project is to create a more functional and aesthetically pleasing space for the community to enjoy.

FOR PUBLIC MARKET

Public Markets exist to fulfill a public

purpose, showcase a community’s
unique character and culture while
serving its everyday shopping needs.

A successful public market is a catalyst for local

businesses. A market will bring in customers who
not only shop at the market, but at local
businesses as well. Public markets are not just
places of commerce. Successful markets help to
grow and to connect urban and rural economies.
