IN TIMES OF STRESS, ONE
CAN FOLLOW AN
ILLUSTRATED GUIDE OF
THE WORLD HEALTH
ORGANIZATION TO
MANAGE STRESS.
1. Grounding
This section talks about stress and how it manifests
itself in people’s lives. It points out the importance
of focusing your attention as a fundamental basis
for managing anxiety. It also illustrates how you
should do this and why you often don’t achieve it.
Finally, it provides keys for escaping from a
stressful situation in a short time and connecting
with your life.
2. Unhooking
This section talks about the negative
thoughts and feelings that keep coming
back, throwing you off balance in your
mood and overall performance. It teaches
you how to identify them and offers a
step-by-step guide for disengaging with
them.
3. Acting on your values
Your values define the kind of person you want
to be. To manage anxiety, it’s important not to
lose sight of everything in which you believe
which, sometimes, in stressful situations, gets
pushed into the background. The guide tells
you how to identify your own values and
how to work to be consistent with them.
4. Being kind
The guide highlights kindness as a core
value. This is linked to compassion and
treating yourself and others kindly.
Some examples of situations that lead to
a lack of kindness are given and how
they negatively affect your mood.
5. Making room
This section talks about the importance
of living all dimensions of life fully. After
all, stressful situations are invasive and
leave no room for you to experience reality
as a whole. You end up focusing only on the
perceived threat. The guide advises on how
to prevent this from happening.
