Fixing the Library Services by using the Tool “wishful thinking”

I am working at Medical Library as Medical Library Manager, the Hospital is specialized in
ophthalmology and all physicians are Specialized in Eye diseases. Our Library should provide the
Employee by the updated information. There are many things need to be fixed in the Library
system and the services, I did some and I am planning to fix the rest.

One of the things I said we need to do is to add another subjects beside the Medical such as
self-improvement, and to add another language such as Arabic since most of the books are
English books. Wouldn’t It Be Nice If we ignore the no-medical staff and their needs for reading
and self-improving, to solve this problem I contacted the National Library and asked them to
provide us with some titles as a gift, since they have “Gift and Exchange Department” they
provide us about 800 titles. It Wouldn’t It Be Nice if we add them all, since some titles are not
Appropriate for the library so we take some books away and planning to send them again to the
National Library.

We face another problem, some of the books are not for borrowing since we have only one
copy, and we cannot buy another copy because of the Budget Issue . Wouldn’t It Be Nice If can
serve the staff who do not have time to visit the library, so we are having 2 projects on the plan,
the first one is to change some of the books to E-Books with the IT department support, and to
make copy for some books, (it is legal since It is not for selling or publishing, we will keep the
right of the Authors and Publisher, and also it is for the inside services not for public. Also by
asking the staff if they have copies of books they do not need it anymore not to Instead of being
neglected or thrown, they can give it to the Library as gift but it should not bee old and useful.

Wouldn’t It Be Nice If can serve the visitors because of the limited number of staff, so I am
planning to add new staff with the HR Supports.
