UK Telephone Calls

The bar chart illustrates how many minutes were spent on telephone calls in the UK during a 7-
year period, beginning from 1995.
It is clear that the total number of minutes of the national and international – fixed lines and
mobiles experienced an increase, while there was stability in the figure for the local – fixed line.
Additionally, the local – fixed line was the most popular during the period shown.
In 1995, more than 70 million minutes were spent on the local – fixed call. This figure
continued to grow to reach its peak of 90 million minutes in the year 1999 and gradually
declined to nearly 70 million in 2002.
In 1995, there were over 35 million minutes spent on national and international lines, which
was 7 times as high as the figure for mobiles. After 7 years, the former experienced a steady rise
to the highest point, just under 60 million, while the latter increased significantly to about 45
million at the same time.
