INQUIRY LESSON PLAN FOR WEEK 6 ENDING FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2023

SUBJECT: MATH
TOPIC: Linear Equations 2
CLASS: 8TH GRADE
DURATION: 45 MINUTES
NUMBER IN CLASS: 2
SEX: MIXED
SEMESTER: 1ST
QUARTER: 1ST
TEACHER: MR. CHRIS ORYA
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
i. Solve equation involving more than one operation as well as consecutive
integers.
ii. Solve equations with the variable on both sides as well as grouping symbols.
iii. Evaluate absolute value expressions and equations.
LEARNING RESOURCES: Algebra 1 Textbook
REFERENCES: mathsproject.ie
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR: Learners were familiar with evaluating and simplifying one step
equations.
PRESENTATION
INTRODUCTION

The teacher reviews the previous lesson and introduces the day’s topic. Since the
learners are familiar with the previous topic, he goes and ahead with problem solving.

b) Zara is buying a pair of water skis that are on sale for 3 of the original
price. After she uses a $25 gift certificate, the cost before taxes is $115.
What was the original price of the skis? Write an equation for the problem.
Then solve the equation.

STEP 2.
The teacher explains and solve consecutive integers. Consecutive integers are
integers in counting order, such as 4, 5 and 6 or n, n + 1, and n + 2.
Example: Find the consecutive number odd integers with a sum of -51.
n + (n + 2) + (n + 4) = -51
3n + 6 = -51
3n = -51 -6
3n = -57
3 n −57

n = -19
n = -19, n + 2 = -19 + 2 = -17 n + 4 = -19 + 4 = -15

STEP 3:
Th teacher explains solving variables on each side thus, to solve equation that has
variable on each side, we use addition and subtraction property of Equity to write an
equivalent equation with the variable terms on one side. However, if the equations
contain grouping symbols such parentheses or brackets
