DURATION: 45 MINUTES
NUMBER IN CLASS: 1
SEX: MIXED
SEMESTER: 1ST
QUARTER: 1ST
TEACHER: MR. CHRIS ORYA
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
a) Find the midpoint of any segment
b) Find midpoint in coordinate plane.
c) Use algebra to find measures.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR: Learner is familiar distance and coordinate plane.
PRESENTATION
INTRODUCTION
The introduces the lesson and explains that the Midpoint of a segment is the point
halfway between the endpoints of the segment. If X is the midpoint of line AB, the AX =
XB and line AX = XB. You find the midpoint of a segment on a number line by finding
the mean, or the average, of the coordinates of its endpoints
Example.
Jacinta hangs a picture 15 inches from the left side of a wall. How far from the edge of
the wall should she mark the location for the nail the picture will hang on if the right
edge is 37.5 inches from the wall’s left side?
Solution

STEP 2
The teacher explains how to find midpoint on coordinate plane.

He explains that if AB has endpoints (x1, y1) and A (x2, y2) in the coordinate plane,
then the midpoint M of line AB has coordinates
Example:
Find the coordinate of M, the midpoint of line ST, for S(-6, 3) and T(1, 0)
