1.1 How often do you teach traditional games (patintero, tumbang preso, luksong tinik, etc.

) in your
MAPEH class? Do you follow certain rules or regulations in playing, or do you invent your own? Perhaps
you would like to share your strategies in teaching traditional games while still promoting physical
fitness. -How can schools and institutions ensure that Traditional Games are officially recognized and
incorporated into their physical education curriculum?

I often teach traditional games such as patintero, tumbang preso, luksong tinik in my MAPEH class if it is
already uhm time to teach these sports or these laro ng lahi according to the max or the most essential
learning competencies.

Yes, I follow certain rules and regulations in playing such laro ng lahi but sometimes we can invent our
own depending on the performance of our learners.

The strategy or strategies I employ in teaching traditional games such… the usual one which first
explaining to them the importance of these laro ng lahi, the origin, and then the mechanics.

Schools and institutions can ensure that traditional games are officially recognized and incorporated into
their physical education curriculum of course, by first including them in their curriculum. As in the DepEd
elementary it is included in the MELC or the Most Essential Learning Competencies and we are also uhm
monitored if what is stated or what are stated in the MELC or strictly followed.

1.2 When teaching and letting your students play the traditional games, do you take note of their
strengths and weaknesses, their bmi, and how it affects their body? Is it also relevant to remind the
students why there is a need to move, play, and learn our traditional games? (Follow up) Why?

Yes, I do take note of my learners’ strengths and weaknesses, their BMI, and how it affects their body
when teaching and letting my learners play traditional games. Of course how it affects their body. They
ahh. These games make them more or health.. healthier, more active, and more fit.

Yes, it is very relevant to remind our learners why there is a need to move, play, and learn our
traditional games. Why? It’s because, especially nowadays, that vour children, especially elementary
uhm they are already… very into gadgets so.. they have barely ahh.. they are barely spending time in
physical activity such as games because they prefer online games so employing or teaching these games
to our learners can somehow help them detach for sometimes from technology which is some… in some
other ways uhm this advantageous to our learners nowadays.

1.3 Do you consider showing your students a video of a certain traditional game or allowing them to
observe you demonstrating the game before they perform it independently? Are there any skills that
you’ve developed that made your teaching more effective? (Ask if the teacher can share)

Before I let my learners perform the game independently number 1, first, I will show them a video about
that particular traditional game and sometimes if I have or we have ample time, I also let them observe
no by demonstrating the game to them before the actual performance.

Yes of course there are many skills that have developed that made my teaching more effective so
learning along the process is really evident.
2.1 Is there an impact on the physical, mental, and emotional state of each student when teaching and
letting them experience playing the traditional games? How about its impact on our culture? (Follow up)
How and why?

Yes, there is an impact on the physical, mental, and emotional state of each student when teaching and
letting them experience the traditional games no in such a way that uhm some are really amaze that we
re.. that these games really existed because uhm, in reality my learners are not so familiar anymore with
this kind of game so once they play the game uhm, they were really amazed and they are very
interested in playing the game na instead of uhm focusing only on online gadgets and its impact on cult..
on our culture is that our culture is somehow preserved… preserved by remembering, by letting our
learners remember this laro ng lahi.

2.2. Can you share with us how you impart the stories behind these traditional games as a means to
convey values of solidarity, diversity, fair play, inclusion, and cultural awareness to your students? And
how does it contribute to our society?

So I impart the stories behind these traditional games as means to convey values of solidarity, diversity,
fair play, inclusion, and cultural awareness to my learners, to my students by sharing to them my
personal experiences when I was just like them, when I was once like them, young like them. Playing
these experiences when I played the.. these games before. And how it contribute to our society? Of
course it is a reminder of our culture, of the origin of our games no on how children spend their extra
time before, before the technology era.

2.3 What are the values, attitudes, and behaviors that you’ve observed from your students when
they’re playing and learning the traditional games? Are these necessary to understand the essence of
the game? Why?

So there are certain values and behaviors that I have observed from my learners when playing the game.
So at first, they had a really hard time adjusting because they are into online games so when they played
the game, it was quiet hard for them to adjust, to show their patience. But later on, patience,
sportsmanship, enjoying what they are.. what they are doing, being considerate were very observable
and very evident already.

Yes, these values are necessary to understand the essence of the game because laro ng lahi, these
games were not just played just for fun but also for learning and for values development. As what we
have seen no where learners… young learners today and before were very… were very different.
Because we are so… uhm with these games we are developed socially which is quiet an issue nowadays.
