Diesel plant fitting theory pdf

Diesel fitters are responsible for the repair and maintenance of diesel engines. These include engines on trucks, tractors, earth-moving machinery, pumps, oil rigs and marine engines. Diesel fitters detect faults and damage in diesel engines and fuel injection systems. They measure the parts to ascertain the extent of the damage and wear and tear
and then repair or replace the parts. Much of the work requires meticulous adherence to standards and specifications and all vehicles are thoroughly tested before being returned to the owner.Diesel fitters are required to use complex measuring equipment such as micrometers, tachometers, and dynamometers. They use hand tools such as spanners,
torque wrenches and specialised testing equipment, and fuel injection equipment that has to be kept in a sealed, dust free room. Diesel fitters work mostly in workshops and sometimes outdoors. The work can be rather dirty and noisy at times. Personal Requirements at least 16 years old mechanical aptitude able to work independently problem-
solving ability meticulously accurate and careful manual dexterity good hearing and vision physical strength and stamina to work with heavy machinery and components How to Enter Schooling & School SubjectsGrade 9 CertificateSome employers prefer higher qualifications What to Study There are three ways to qualify as a registered artisan:1. An
apprenticeship is a fixed contract between company and apprentice, ranging in duration from between 18 months and 4 years. At the end of the contract, the apprentice writes a trade test leading to professional certification.2. A learnership is a structured learning programme ranging from about a year to 3 years. A learnership comprises theoretical
and practicaltraining. Practical training is conducted on site (on the premises of the organisation). This has the advantage that the learner gets experience whilst training.3. TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) Colleges offer theoretical training to prospective artisans via the new National Certificate Vocational (NCV). During this 3-
year programme (levels 2 to 4), learners complete a school-leaving certificate (NCV) similar to the new National Senior Certificate (NSC) in schools. They are also exposed to a practical workshop component. All learners are required to complete a practical internship under the supervision of an experienced artisan. As an alternative, a learner can
apply to do a skills programme at a TVET College. Skills programmes are short practical hands-on courses. For more information about qualifications and skills programmes, contact your nearest TVET College. TVET Colleges are accredited and funded by a SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) such as MerSETA or ChietaSETA. They also
receive bursary funding through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for the NCV programme. Learners must all receive training in occupational safety and first aid, fire-fighting and preventative security measures. Learners study everything about the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment. They must also
become familiar with municipal legislation relevant to electricity supply and consumption. Diesel fitters maintain, repair and manufacture metal products and machinery. For an apprentice diesel fitter, the majority of learning is hands-on and practical. Blue Dog Training’s MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Diesel Fitter/Mechanic) course is self-paced and flexible, with theory that strongly ties in with the practical
skills developed in the workplace. Our training is suitable for school-based apprentices, part-time apprentices, full-time apprentices and mature-aged apprentices. Attendance On-the-job training. No classrooms or block training. Flexible theory delivery. Course Duration 4 year contract term and 3.5 years standard expected duration. Existing skills and
experience are recognised and training may be fast-tracked, if appropriate. Requirements You must be signed into an apprenticeship/traineeship contract with an employer Locations This course is offered in Queensland. Outcome Nationally Recognised Qualification: MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Diesel
Fitter/Mechanic) Whether you are looking to put on your first apprentice, add another to your ranks, or require more flexibility and support with your current apprentice's training, Blue Dog can assist. Blue Dog Training has been training apprentices for over 18 years and works with businesses by creating a seamless process from start to finish. Blue

Queensland government through the User Choice program (which is administered by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training) provides a contribution towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees. Apprentices and trainees are usually required to pay a co-contribution fee for the
cost of their training and assessment. In some cases, partial of full fee exemptions might apply. More information on the Queensland Government funding rules, fees and fee concessions – including the Free Apprenticeships for under 25s initiative - is available in the drop down menus below. To be eligible for the Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s
program you must: Be under the age of 25 when commencing the Certificate III in Engineering Permanently reside in Queensland Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency or a New Zealand citizen. To
be eligible for the DESBT User Choice program subsidy/government contribution you must: Permanently reside in Queensland. Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen. Not
have already utilised your entitlement under the User Choice program, that is apprentices and trainees, including school-based apprentices and trainees (SATs) can only receive a maximum of two Government funding contributions under the User Choice program. Have entered into a Training Contract for a qualification that is funded by DESBT. Co-
contribution fees apply. Approximately $1600 depending on selected units. Concessions may apply for eligible learners, reducing the co-contribution fee to approximately $640. Further details can be found in the Blue Dog Training Student Handbook. For more information please call (07) 3166 3999. More information on concessional fees and costs
per unit can be found here. Apprentices and trainees can only receive one government contribution for a User Choice funded qualification at any single point in time, i.e. a student is not funded to undertake two apprenticeships or traineeships at the same time. For more information on the User Choice program, see DESBT's website ( where a
selection of fact sheets on User Choice funding limitations and the implications for eligibility to receive User Choice funding of any further training, are available.
