Paragraph 1: Provide a topic sentence to grab your reader’s attention and begin
describing your topic of interest.

Writing an introduction: Grab the reader’s attention with a hook or attention grabber.
For example: Pose a question or write something exciting about the topic.

Add examples or evidence to further support your topic of interest (whether your prior
knowledge or from a book you read).

Paragraph 2: Add more detail about your topic of interest.

Add more examples or evidence (maybe interview someone that is an expert on the topic or
perhaps you are an expert on your topic).

Paragraph 3: Add one more paragraph about your topic of interest that makes it
interesting to you or someone else.

Write about your topic of interest and expand on your thinking (what makes it interesting to
you and to readers).

Last, add just a little more evidence from a text, graphic novel, or video to support your thinking
of the topic.

Conclusion: Restate your topic of interest.

Restate your topic of interest to bring your thinking to a close. (Helpful hint: Pull information
from your introduction and rewrite it differently, but in the same way!)
