2nd Interview: Additional data

During one of the follow ups after 2-3 visits , pt was enquired about the event which she
had refused to tell earlier. There was no observer during this interaction.

With a pause she agreed to tell. Her husband had an affair, which she discovered through his
mobile chats. She was shocked to see this and confronted husband about it. There was a big
quarrel. He initially reacted but had to accept. Pt felt betrayed and was very badly affected.
There were constant quarrels on this issue. Since then pt has become very irritable. Her sleep
reduced because of constant thoughts on this issue. She didn't want to live with him but couldn't
go anywhere. She had kids. Husband too made certain changes. Pt did not share about this
much to anyone except her friend.

The relationship remained strained after this.. Earlier she always wanted husband to be
with her. After this pt started doing things independently, trying to be on her own. She tried doing
a job for 6 months, feeling had she been financially independent she could have taken a bolder
step. She also might get some value because of the earnings. Later felt she couldn't manage
both home and office as there was no support for that. Hence resigned. Pt started doing a
regular walk of 8 kms daily to reduce weight, which she is continuing even today. All this has
also affected their physical relation as well, which is very less frequent.

Theirs is a love marriage. She met him during college days and became friends. He was
caring and loving. He was possessive about her which she liked. After a few months they got
married. Her family agreed, but the inlaws took some time. After marriage she found him to be
too critical and rough. She said he was always so but she could see this better only after
marriage. He was critical and harsh on small things which used to hurt her a lot. There used to
be quarrels and she used to tell him constantly to change his behavior. She agrees he has
changed his behavior over a period of time due to this.
