 SYMNOPSIS

Young Abigal Barns lives in the small town of

Somonok with her mother, Cynthia, and two best friends,
Rachel Cooley and Ethan Evans. Dealing with recent
death of her military father, and now the well known
psychiatrist, Dr. Herbert M. Lane, it seems like
negative events are drawn to her.
Somonok hides a dark past that begins to show when
Abigal continues seeing a young boy named Gregory.
Friend or Foe? With Rachel, Ethan, and their newfound
friends, Joshua, and Kassy, a mystery begins…
Will Abigal and her friends find the truth they are
seeking or will Somonok remain forever enclosed with
secrets?

1. (Visons Begin Reprise); ABIGAL;

Abigal has visions from everything that’s

transpired. When she comes to, she realizes she’s
alone and overcome with emotions.

2. (Friendship); CYNTHIA, SARAH, HANNAH, ETHAN;

Cynthia and Sarah send Hannah and Ethan to search

for Abigal after discussing friendship.

3. (Best Friends Reprise); ABIGAL, GREGORY, JOSHUA,

Abigal sees Gregory and meets Joshua and Kassy.

Hannah and Ethan meet them and discuss happiness.

4. (The Office Reprise); MICHAEL;

In his office, MICHAEL sits to observe the recent

photoshoot of ABIGAL and ETHAN, but sees Gregory
in the photos.

5. (Memoires Reprise); ABIGAL, HANNAH, ETHAN, JOSHUA,
KASSY;

After being prompted, Ethan opens up about WHY

he’s so happy all the time.

6. (The Meeting Reprise); CYNTHIA, HANNAH, DR.

HOLMAN;

Dr. Holman comes over to Cynthia’s house to

introduce herself in the neighborhood.

7. (The Park Reprise); ABIGAL, HANNAH, ETHAN, JOSHUA,

KASSY, GREGORY;

Abigal reveals Gregory to the group. Ethan

suggests they all play “ghost in the graveyard”.

8. (The Photoshoot Reprised); ALL CAST;

Michael comes over to Cynthia’s house to reveal

the photoshoot and remises things with Clare.
Joshua and Kassy reveal themselves.

 SCRIPT

(SCENE BEGIN)

1. (Visions Begin Reprise); ABIGAL;

Abigal has visions from everything that’s

transpired. When she comes to, she realizes she’s
alone and overcome with emotions.

(Visions from the previous film are taking place

in ABIGAL’S mind. As she comes to, she is
overfilled with emotions and begins to cry,
tucking her knees up under her and burying her
head in her folded arms with her back against a
tree.)

 (Scene Begin)

2. (Friendship); CYNTHIA, SARAH, HANNAH, ETHAN;

Cynthia and Sarah send Hannah and Ethan to search

for Abigal after discussing friendship.

(At CYNTHIA’S house. CYNTHIA and SARAH are in the

kitchen. HANNAH and ETHAN enter into the kitchen.)

ETHAN
(to parents, hopeful, concerned)
Is Abby back yet?

CYNTHIA
(disappointed)
No Ethan, not yet.

 SARAH
(inquiring)
You two were just out looking for her, didn’t you
see her walking or anything?!

HANNAH
(to SARAH, insistent)
Mom! We looked everywhere! We couldn’t find her!

CYNTHIA
(to HANNAH, calm)
Did you look in her favorite places?

HANNAH
(to CYNTHIA, cont.)
Yes.

SARAH
(to RACHEL, cont.)
Did you look in her non-favorite places?

 HANNAH
(to SARAH, cont.)
Her what?!

(CYNTHIA puts her head in her hand, smiling

knowingly.)

SARAH
(explaining)
Her non-favorite places… If you looked in her
favorite places, and she wasn’t there, then that
means she’s in one of her non-favorite places,
where you haven’t looked yet.

ETHAN
(realizing)
That actually makes sense!

HANNAH
(still confused)
Huh?!

 SARAH
(to HANNAH, pointing out)
Hannah! Her NON-FAVORITE places… Places she would
not usually be in.

HANNAH
(thinking, much to herself)
People have non-favorite places?

ETHAN
(to HANNAH)
I once had some non-favorite shoes.

(remembering)
They smelled really bad.

(pointing out)
Now I have favorite shoes on!

(asking HANNAH)
Are those YOUR favorite shoes?

(Hannah is confused by the entirety of the

situation.)

 HANNAH
(responding)
They’re just… sneakers.

ETHAN
(satisfied)
Your favorite sneakers.

(SARAH and CYNTHIA exchange smiling, “you’ve got

to be kidding me” glances.)

CYNTHIA
(reassuring to RACHAEL and ETHAN)
I’m sure if you two take your favorite shoes and
keep looking for Abigal, you’ll find her.

HANNAH
(defeated)
We ALREADY looked… We couldn’t find her the first
time.

 SARAH
(explaining)
That’s because you didn’t look in her non-favorite
places.

HANNAH
(questioning)
How are WE suppose to know what her NOT favorite
places are?!

ETHAN
(correcting)
NON-favorite places.

SARAH
(explaining)
You just look in the spots she doesn’t usually go
to.

HANNAH
(cont.)
But wouldn’t she not be in those spots?!

 CYNTHIA
(adding to)
Well, she might be today. She’s had a…

(looking at SARAH)
very busy day…

SARAH
(sympathizing)
So I’ve heard.

CYNTHIA
(to ETHAN and SARAH)
Just go look one more time, please. She needs you
guys right now. She’s feeling a little… sad at the
moment and I’m sure you guys would make her feel
better.

ETHAN
(confident)
I’m totally great at making people happy!

 HANNAH
(to ETHAN, stating)
That’s because you’re ALWAYS happy.

ETHAN
(to HANNAH, correcting)
No I’m not, sometimes I’m sleeping.

CYNTHIA
(encouraging)
Ethan, you’re one of the happiest, coolest people
I know. You have such a great personality, and
that’s why Abby likes you, even if she doesn’t
always seem like it.

SARAH
(adding onto)
She’s just not as happy as YOU because of reasons.

 CYNTHIA
(cont., to ETHAN)
Your father and I were just talking the other day
about the two of you being like siblings. She even
told me a while back how you’re like a protector
to her. Just like her father was. You guys have a
very strong friendship. And sometimes… like now…
friends just need each other… to help each other…
get through things.

ETHAN
(satisfied, to CYNTHIA)
Like a superhero saving people?

CYNTHIA
(cont.)
Exactly like a superhero saving people. Just like
her dad was her superhero “dad”, YOU’RE like her
superhero “brother”.

ETHAN
(beaming)
And she’s like my sister.

 (to HANNAH)
And so are you Hannah!

HANNAH
(confused)
Great…

CYNTHIA
(cont.)
Alright superhero, go find her and brighten her
day.

SARAH
(cont.)
At her non-favorite place.

HANNAH
(uncertain)
We’ll try…

 ETHAN
(confident, running out)
Let’s go Hannah!

(Hannah shrugs her shoulders and follows ETHAN

out. CYNTHIA calmly puts her head in her hand and
chuckles. SARAH looks on after ETHAN and HANNAH
and chuckles as well.)

SARAH
(much to herself)
Cynthia, what am I going to do with that kid?...

CYNTHIA
(giggling)
Ethan tries so hard to be there for Abby. It’s
probably very confusing for him seeing this
different side to her.

 HANNAH
(referring)
I MEANT my daughter. I swear between the two of
them, Abby’s the one with a little more brains.

(CYNTHIA chuckles, turning around to do some

dishes.)

SARAH
(apologetic)
I’m sorry we came in on such short notice.

CYNTHIA
(smiling)
Oh, don’t be! Hannah being here will make Abby’s
week SO much better! Her best friend has just left
for vacation, and she’s had to deal with her
father, and now Dr. Lane.

 SARAH
(questioning)
What happened with all that

CYNTHIA
(cont.)
Just… heart failure they said. They couldn’t make
sense of it. It was just… probably his time.

(pause, reflecting)

He was so good with Abby too… so positive… And

that’s why I’m glad Abby has Ethan. I love his
positive outlook on things. I know he’s been
through just as much… But he’s just the right
person to counter-balance Abby’s emotions at the
moment. And with Hannah being here, it’ll make it
double.

SARAH
(uncertain)
You think?

 CYNTHIA
(confident)
They’re more like sisters than they are cousins.
They loved every moment being together growing up!
And now, with Ethan in the mix, they’re
practically like siblings.

SARAH
(smiling)
Hannah was all she talked about the whole drive
down here. And now she gets here, and Abby’s
nowhere to be found.

CYTHINA
(sympathizing)
I know, I’m sorry. Ethan was looking for her all
morning as well.

SARAH
(smiling)
That boy is something else… I don’t think I’ve
ever seen an off switch since he was a little guy.

(CYNTHIA pauses at this remark. They make eye
contact.)

CYNTHIA
(knowingly questioning)
Do you remember WHY Ethan’s always so happy?

(SARAH looks at CYNTHIA questioningly.)

CYNTHIA
(cont.)
From years ago. That telephone call we had.

SARAH
(remembering, calmly)
I remember now…

 CYNTHIA
(almost quietly)
It’d be a shame for him to lose it twice…

(CYNTHIA then turns back to do dishes.)

 (SCENE BEGIN)

3. (Best Friends Reprise); ABIGAL, GREGORY, JOSHUA,

KASSY, HANNAH, ETHAN;

Abigal sees Gregory and meets Joshua and Kassy.

Hannah and Ethan meet them and discuss happiness.

(ABIGAL is in the same position against the tree

as in “Scene 1”. ABIGAL hears someone in front of
her say “Hey”. She slowly looks up to see GREGORY
standing motionless in front of her. GREGORY
stares down at ABIGAL, glaring. ABIGAL is startled
to see him. They lock eyes for the moment. The
silence is suddenly broken from a familiar voice
in the distance.)

ETHAN
(running)
Abby!

 (ABIGAL, caught off guard, looks to ETHAN, then
back at GREGORY who has now vanished. Standing in
front of her now are JOSHUA and KASSY, staring at
her motionless. ABIGAL looks at the two of them as
ETHAN approaches and kneels down just next to
her.)

ETHAN
(out of breath, happy)
Abby, here you are! Everybody has been worried
about you, Rachel and I were looking for you!

(ETHAN looks up and takes notice of JOSHUA and

KASSY.)

ETHAN
(cont.)
Hi!

(JOSHUA and KASSY look at ETHAN and smile weakly.
HANNAH has finally caught up to the group.
ABIGAL’S eyes widen, and she jumps to her feet,
hugging HANNAH tightly. HANNAH reciprocates.)

ABIGAL
(surprised)
Oh my God! What are you doing here?!

HANNAH
(happy)
We’re on vacation to the beach and we wanted to
surprise you.

ABIGAL
(cont.)
I’ve missed you! It’s been years!

 HANNAH
(cont.)
You’re so grown now! I’ve bet you’ve found a boy.

ABIGAL
(joking)
Ethan doesn’t count.

ETHAN
(triumphant)
Hey! I’m a superhero, because I just did what a
superhero would do; find a person in their “non-
favorite” place!

(ABIGAL looks at HANNAH confused.)

HANNAH
(over it)
Don’t ask…

(to JOSHUA and KASSY)
Well, these two actually found Abby first, so they
are like superheroes too!

(realizing)
What if we’re all like a big group of heroes?!

HANNAH
(joking)
Great, we can call ourselves “The Crazy Team”.

(to everyone simultaneously)

Abby The Brains, Captain Happy, and the… Nursery
Rhyme twins I guess?

ETHAN
(stating, to HANNAH)
And YOU’RE the awesome one!

(to JOSHUA and KASSY)
But for real, who are YOU guys?

JOSHUA
(calmly)
I’m Joshua.

KASSY
(calmly)

(cont., together)

(cont., looking at KASSY)
Mama always said that we kind of read each other’s
minds.

HANNAH
(to ABIGAL)
And my teacher thought “I” was crazy…

ETHAN
(positive)
Nice to meet you Josh and Kassy, I think you’re
really cool.

HANNAH
(much to herself)
Captain Happy again…

(ETHAN looks at ABIGAL.)

(concerned)
Abby, why are you out here? We’ve been looking for
you? Is something wrong?

(ABIGAL looks at ETHAN, then at everyone else

nervously.)

HANNAH
(serious)
Abby?

(ABIGAL turns her back to everyone, ashamed and

nervous.)

ETHAN
(comforting)
Abby, you’re like a sister to me, and I hate
seeing you sad. I just want you to be happy.

 JOSHUA
(adding in)
There’s nothing wrong with happiness.

KASSY
(adding in)
Everybody could use it.

ETHAN
(finishing, to ABIGAL)
Especially you! You deserve it! You used to help
so many people all the time, you’re the best at
it!

(HANNAH walks in front of ABIGAL and locks eyes.)

 HANNAH
(serious)
Whatever it is, just tell us, Abby… Please… I’ll
believe you.

 (SCENE BEGIN)

4. (The Office Reprise); MICHAEL;

In his office, MICHAEL sits to observe the recent

photoshoot of ABIGAL and EVA, but sees Gregory in
the photos.

(At home, in his office, MICHAEL is on his

computer uploading photos from the previous
photoshoot with ABIGAL and EVA. As he goes through
the photos, he notices GREGORY in some of them. As
he turns a photo to “negative”, he realizes it’s
actual, and everything ABIGAL has been saying was
true.)

(SCENE END)

 (SCENE BEGIN)

5. (Memoires Reprise); ABIGAL, HANNAH, ETHAN, JOSHUA,

KASSY;

After being prompted, ETHAN opens up about WHY

she’s so happy all the time.

(ABIGAL, ETHAN, and HANNAH sit at the base of the

tree. JOSHUA, and KASSY are sitting across from
them, listening to everyone, unmoved.)

HANNAH
(comforting)
Abby, we used to tell each other everything when
we were little, remember? Nothing’s changed, we’ve
just gotten older. We can STILL trust each other.
All your secrets have been safe with me for years.

 (ABIGAL contemplates what to do with a look of
dismay. ETHAN looks at ABIGAL and HANNAH calmly.
His eyes drop to the ground and he begins to
think.)

ETHAN
(explaining)
Abby… It’s OK to not be happy…

(ABIGAL and HANNAH are taken back by this sudden

remark.)

ETHAN
(cont.)
I was not happy once… but I’m happy now… because I
get to live everyday. I get to be someone’s hero…
I know your having a hard time with things, and
I’m just trying to help you… like you did me when
I went to the hospital after that fire.

 (As ETHAN continues, ABIGAL becomes sympathetic
and HANNAH remains shocked.)

ETHAN
(cont.)
She came in everyday and saw me… she was there
for me, because she’s my best friend. She was my
hero for… just being there…

(pause)

I try to be happy… because I know what it feels

like to be sad… to be scared… to feel hurt…

(pause)

I WAS scared in that hospital… I… I didn’t want to

die…

(pause)

I was so happy when Abby came to see me… I didn’t

have any friends when I moved here… Abby was my
hero… THAT’S why she’s my friend.

 (Unable to contain her pent up emotions, RACHEL
flees the group. ABIGAL stands slowly and turns
ETHAN to her and hugs him.)

ABIGAL
(understanding)
Ethan… I’m sorry…

6. (The Meeting Reprise); CYNTHIA, JASMIN, DR.

HOLMAN;

Dr. Holman comes over to Cynthia’s house to

introduce herself in the neighborhood.

(There’s a knock on CYNTHIA’S front door. CYNTHIA
answers it. DR. CLARE HOLMAN is standing there.)

CYNTHIA
(answering)
Hello?

DR. HOLMAN
(introducing)
Hello. I’m Dr. Holman, I just moved to the area a
day ago. Is this the Barn’s residence?

CYNTHIA
(realizing)
Yes! Yes it is! Won’t you come in?

(CYNTHIA invites DR. HOLMAN inside to the kitchen.

DR. HOLMAN greets JASMIN. DR. HOLMAN sits at the
table.)

CYNTHIA
(courteous)
Can I get you a drink or something?

 DR. HOLMAN
(accepting)
Some water would be nice, please.

(pause. CYNTHIA gets the water.)

You’ll have to forgive the sudden intrusion, I

hope I wasn’t interrupting anything.

JASMIN
(humorous)
Nope, I’ve been sitting on my butt all day. It’s
my day off, I CHOOSE to enjoy it.

(CYNTHIA and DR. HOLMAN chuckle.)

CYNTHIA
(kindly)
We weren’t doing anything special.

DR. HOLMAN
(explaining)
I don’t usually make house calls, but… I was here
to inquire about a young patient by the name of
Abigal Barns. I’m replacing her… previous doctor.

 CYNTHIA
(remembering)
It was… very sudden.

DR. HOLMAN
(sympathizing)
I heard. The poor girl. I’m sorry she’s been going
through so much.
