AIM:
To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding
tuberculosis and its prevention among GNM -I Year Students

OBJECTIVES:
1.To assess the pre- test level of knowledge of GNM -I year students regarding tuberculosis and its
prevention.

2. To assess the post -test level of knowledge of GNM -I year students regarding tuberculosis and its
prevention.

3.To find out the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding tuberculosis
and its prevention among GNM -I-year students

4.To determine the association between the pre- test level knowledge of GNM -I year students
regarding tuberculosis and its prevention with selected demographic variables.

HYPOTHESIS:
H1: There will be a significance difference in level of knowledge regarding tuberculosis and its
preventionamong GNM -I year students after structured teaching programme.

H2: There will be an association between the pre- test level knowledge of GNM -I year students
regarding tuberculosis and its prevention with selected demographic variables.

OPERATIONALDEFINITIONS

Evaluate:
It refers to determine the level of knowledge regarding tuberculosis and its prevention
among GNM -I year students by self-structured knowledge questionnaire.
Effectiveness:
Effectiveness refers to the extent to which the structured teaching programme is helpful in
increasing the knowledge regarding tuberculosis and its prevention among GNM -I year
students.
Structured Teaching Programme:
Structured teaching programme refers to preparing power point presentation to giving
knowledge to GNM -I year students regarding tuberculosis(pulmonary) and its prevention. It
includes definition , epidemiology ,mode of transmission ,clinical manifestations, management
of tuberculosis and its prevention.
Knowledge:
It refers to level of awareness regarding pulmonarytuberculosis and its prevention among GNM
-I year students.
Tuberculosis and its prevention:
Tuberculosis is caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis which affects lungs and how to protect
self and public from tuberculosis.
GNM -I-year students:
Students who are studying first year of General Nursing and Midwifery course.

RESEARCHDESIGN:
Pre experimental one group pre test and post test research design will be used in present study
