ABSTRACT
The restaurant review website is one of the most effective restaurant marketing tools that has
emerged from the incredible growth of the internet over the past several decades. This study aims
to assess consumers’ initial psychological states and consumer behavior toward the attributes of
restaurant review websites. By employing the Stimulus-Organism-Response framework, this study
introduces seven attributes of a restaurant review website—usefulness, simplicity, visual appeal,
social presence, informativeness, credibility, and scalability—and explores how these attributes
impact consumers’ cognitive and affective attitudes and behavioral responses. A mock restaurant
review website was created according to the results of in-depth interviews and a focus group, and
an online survey was linked to the mock restaurant review website. Data were collected on U.S.
residents, aged 21 years old and over, yielding 529 completed responses. The data analysis
employed multivariate statistical methods and structural equation modeling to test the hypotheses.
All constructs had acceptable levels of composite reliability and were deemed valid for both
convergent and discriminant validity. Several hypotheses were found to be significant, as expected,
except for a few that may require further investigation. The resualts of the hypotheses testing
revealed that the relationships between usefulness, visual appeal, social presence, and behavioral
responses were fully mediated by cognitive and affective attitudes. The relationship between
informativeness and behavioral response was only mediated by cognitive attitude, whereas
simplicity and credibility were only mediated by affective attitude. The hypothesis for the
relationship between scalability and behavioral responses were insignificant, and a
recommendation for future research is provided. Research implications, limitations, and
suggestions
MOTIVATION:

The best restaurant websites have one thing in common; beautiful presentation. An attractive design with
excellent imagery can bring you many customers. Usability is important. But it’s the mouth-watering
visuals that make these sites great.

The visual presentation should not distract your visitors from getting key information, however. Your
locations, menu items and opening hours should be easily accessible.

Below we have listed some of our favourite restaurant websites for you to use as design inspiration.
Literature Review
(Zeithaml&Bitner, 2003)In food delivery business Service Encounter does not happen frequently because
in online food ordering and delivery business there is no direct interaction with restaurants. Consumers
usually rely on information updated on restaurant search engine portals. Customer make their choices,
perception by reading reviews and ratings given by critics and seasoned customers. Sometime phone
encounters happen, but that happens between food ordering & delivery Service Company and customer.
According to Red-Seer Consulting firm (www.redseer.com- Feb18) states that food delivery sector is
continuously increasing 15% per quarter.

Chris (2011).Some company believes that some restaurant can promote instantly and customer can book
tables overnight But the fact in today’s scenario some restaurant are not able to attract customer because
there is huge penetration in Indian market especially in urban cities wherein customer are more selective
and people don’t have enough time to visit restaurant. In such case restaurant owners make alliance with
food ordering and delivery services to deliver food to customer. Food delivery services also gives more
visibility to restaurants.

Objective of the project :-

The principal objective of your website should always be to attract customers to your restaurant and
as such an online booking function is the most essential feature. This may lead to another page
with your restaurant’s opening times and telephone number for those wanting to make reservations by
phone. Or it might even be a form that users can fill in (name and number of people, date and time of the
reservation, contact telephone number, e-mail address , a space for comments, any special requirements,
and your cancellation policy
METHODOLOGY

One of the main objectives of a restaurant is to ensure customer satisfaction and build a repeat-customer
base. According to research by the National Restaurant Association, more than half of American adults
said they would be more likely to patronize the same restaurant if it offered a customer loyalty and reward
program. Other goals of this objective include enticing regular customers to come back more often as well
as introducing the restaurant to new customers. Restaurants that give frequent diner cards typically
incorporate this objective in their overall marketing plans.
This research was done mainly to enhance the restaurant promotion and branding. Restaurant marketing is
both an art and a science that is shrouded in mystery for far too many restaurant owners. Unfortunately,
many advertising sales people don’t want you to know what’s really working. They want you to think that
the television spots your comeptitior is running with them will be the answer to all of your sales-building
challenges which is not so true.
