TOPIC: FIRST EQUATION OF MOTION

Time: 30 minutes Maximum Marks: 20

Instructions:

 All questions are compulsory.

 Each question carries 2 marks.

1. Define the first equation of motion.

2. What is the SI unit of acceleration?

3. State the equation of motion for finding the final velocity.

4. A car accelerates from rest at a rate of 2 m/s². Calculate the time it takes to
reach a velocity of 20 m/s.

5. A ball rolls down an inclined plane with an acceleration of 5 m/s². If it starts

from rest, what will be its velocity after 4 seconds?

6. A train decelerates at a rate of 3 m/s² until it comes to a stop. If the initial

velocity of the train is 30 m/s, how long will it take for the train to stop?

7. A stone is thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity of 20 m/s.

Calculate the time taken by the stone to reach its maximum height.

8. A cyclist accelerates uniformly from rest and reaches a velocity of 10 m/s in

5 seconds. Calculate the acceleration of the cyclist.

9. A car accelerates uniformly from 10 m/s to 30 m/s in 5 seconds. Calculate its

acceleration.

10. A body is moving with a uniform velocity of 15 m/s. Is there any acceleration
acting on it? Justify your answer.
