HERBS (BENEFITS, SIDE EFFECTS, DOSAGE)
BASIL (SOLASI)
Ocimum basilicum, is a culinary herb and aromatic plant. Grows 12-
18 inches
BENEFITS Lower fevers
Clean mouth whenever chewed
Good for stress (aromatherapy) and with kidney failure
Relieves headache and migraine (boiled)
Reduce asthma, vomiting, and pain due to arthritis
Cure sore throat
Lower high blood pressure
Can treat acne, hair, and blackhead
Good alternatives for smoking
Helps to get rid of intestinal worm
Good source vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium,
iron
SIDE EFFECTS Must not taken orally for a long-term, due to estragole
(chemical) it will increase the risk of getting liver cancer.
Basil and oils extracts might slow blood clotting but
increases bleeding.
Must not be taken together with other medications such
as anti-hypertensive and anticoagulants drugs.
DOSAGE Orally take a small amount
Do not take basil at least two weeks before scheduled
surgery to avoid mass bleeding.
Depends on the user’s age and health conditions.
OREGANO
Origanum vulgare is an herb used to flavor foods. Has olive green leaves and
purple flowers. It is closely related to other herbs, including mint, thyme,
marjoram, and basil.

Good for flu (antiviral)
Makes bone stronger ( because of manganese copper)

SIDE EFFECTS It may cause rashes, stomach distress, or trouble
breathing.

LAGUNDI
Vitex nagundo L. is an effective and proven herbal. Commercially available in
syrup but most convenient from garden.
BENEFITS Effective in preventing spread of disease-causing
microorganisms

Ease the frequency of cough and asthma
Alleviate shortness of breath

Pandanus amaryllifolous a plants that emit a fragrant aroma.

have just given birth and are still weak.

SIDE EFFECTS People with kidney problems: they cannot digest the
plant, that causes indigestion.

BAYABAS (GUAVA)
Psidium guajava a tropical fruit that grows 3 to 10 meters tall with
greenish to red-brownish smooth bark.
