CAT LECTURE NOTES

CAT BASICS
 Commandant: Sgt. Reymar C. Oria PA (Res) [bonus: Middle initial means Catadman]
 Assistant commandant: Pvt. Florencio John S. Saladaga
 Citizen’s Army Training
 It is the component of MAPEH in 10th grade under the K-12 curriculum, CAT is a requirement for
graduation of all 10th grade students.

OBJECTIVE OF CAT
 Promote teamwork
 Commitment & social responsibility to their community
 Upholds law and have active participation in community activities
 Assist members of the community
 Develop student’s leadership skills
 Exposure to unfamiliar activities related to military training

Two components of CAT


A. Military Orientation
- Introduction and exposure to the basic knowledge, unfamiliar situations, and
experiences. As well as activities related to military and citizenship training.

B. Community Service
- Activities that achieve general welfare and betterment of the life of the community.

CADET CODE OF HONOR PHONETIC ALPHABET

MILITARY COURTESY
 Acts of politeness, civility & respect that personnel in the military accord to one another.
 It is of vital importance in promoting and developing prober “Espirit de corps” (Team spirit).

MILITARY DISCIPLINE
 It ensures prompt obedience to orders and initiation of appropriate actions in the absence of
orders.
 Necessary to ensure orderly group activity for the smooth accomplishment of a mission.

SALUTE
 Gesture or action used to display respect.

WHEN ENTITLED TO SALUTE


o Commissioned officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)
o Commissioned officers of the Armed Forces of Allied Nations
o President of the Republic of the Philippines
o Foreign Dignitaries
o Secretary of National Defense

WHEN NOT TO SALUTE:


o When troops are at work.
o Indoors, except when reporting to an officer.
o When carrying articles with both hands, or when both hands are being occupied.
o When meeting or serving a military prisoner.
o When they’re standing next to a horse or leading a horse.

HONORS TO THE ANTHEM/COLORS


Outdoors
- At the first note, all personnel will face the source of the music, stand at attention, and render
a salute until the last note of the music.
Indoors
- Military personnel will stand at attention and face the music, if the flag is present they will not
salute unless armed.
Half-mast
- The flag will be raised halfway when dignitaries of the Philippines pass away.

Note: The national flag will be hoisted first and lowered last, when raised next to a foreign flag our
flag will be found at the right of it. Blue on top means peace, red on top means danger.
