Edmund Hillary was born in 1919 in Auckland, New Zealand. He died in 2008. At the age of 16, he had his
first hike in the Alaps. He has many achievements in climbing, such as 'First man, with Tenzing Norgay, to
summit Everest'. After he climbed Everest, he also spent a lot of time helping the locals in the Everest
region. There is a quote about his climbing: 'It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.'
