6.Matrices
(a)Aim- The aim of this activity is to perform the operations of addition and subtraction of matrices in an excel
sheet.
Required Data- 4 matrices of same order (say 2X2) for addition and subtraction of 2 each.
Table Data-
12 5
A
4 2
8 6
B
3 14
4 8
X
7 15
17 5
Y
14 6
Procedure-
I. Make 2X2 matrices in excel by plotting numbers in the cells just like a matrix.
II. Name the matrix “A” by selecting the 4 cells and selecting “define name” option.
III. Now do the same to the other matrix and name it “B”.
IV. Put side borders and give a colour to the two matrices.
V. Type A and B beside the respective matrices for reference.
VI. Now , in a separate cell type =A+B and press Control+Shift+Enter.
VII. An addition matrix would have appeared name it D and add borders and colours to it,
VIII. Repeat the above steps for subtraction also. Name the matrices as X and Y and name the result cells as F.
IX. Use formula =A-B.
X. Now subtraction matrix also obtained.
Functions Used-

• =DIFF(…)
• Wrap cells function
• ADDITION function
• SUBTRACTION function
(b)Aim- The aim of this activity is to perform the operation of Multiplication of matrices in an excel sheet.
Required Data- 2 matrices of same order (say 3X3) for Multiplication.
Procedure:
(i) In Microsoft Excel the MMULT function is weed for multiplying any two matrices so let two matrices of
3x3 by Matrix A and B.
(ii) Fox multiplication of two multiply A & B the number of columns in the first matrix must be equal to the
number of rows in second matrix. After selecting down the MMULT () function & t the cells 3x3, write acks
for array 1 and array 2.
(iii) Array is Matrix A & Array 2 is Matrix B.
(iv) while calculating should be the result, key Combination Ctrl + Shift + Enter used to get a matrix as answer.
Functions Used-

(c) Aim- The aim of this activity is to perform the operation of Inverse of matrices in an excel sheet.
Required Data- 1 matrices of order (say 3X3) for Inverse.
Procedure:
(i) For calculating the inverse of a given matrix, the function is used. First, create Matrix A (3×3).
(ii) Then write the which you MINVERSE in the result for highlighted cell in select Matrix A array.
(iii) while calculating the result, key combination 𝐶𝑡𝑟𝑙 + 𝑆ℎ𝑖𝑓𝑡 + 𝐸𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟 should be used to. to get answer in a
matrix form.
Functions Used-
• MINVERSE
INVERSE OF MATRIX
(d) Aim- The aim of this activity is to linear equations using Matrix Method in an excel sheet.
Procedure:
(i) Write coefficient matrix A for given pair of linear equations.
(ii) Write matrix B for constants.
(iii) Now find inverse of matrix A.
(iv) Multiply Matrix A-1 and B to obtain value of variables.
Function Used:

supplied.
(ii) Select columns of the given date and click on "Insert Tab” Choose line chart from chart.
(iii) After group. choosing a line chant, it will appear with the mentioned data values on the x-axis and y-axis with
different colours. By default, the price would be x-axis.
With the same data, you can visualize the data by using a and Scatter plot the scatter chart is shown. The
demand supply curve will intersect at a point, visible in both charts, called "Equilibrium Paint".
