Unemployment is a situation in which a parson who is able to work, actively

seeking work, but is unable to find any. We cannot say a person is unemployed when
all these conditions are not fulfilled. Statistically, unemployment is analysed by the
government labour or by the physical observation. In our context of unemployment
in Cameroon, just like in other undeveloped countries is frequent. As follows, what
are then the causes, consequences, and proposal solution to the given calamity? In the
following paragraphs we are going to enumerate the causes, effects and some solution
to the problem.

(Causes) The educational curriculum in Cameroon, especially at the level of

university does not match training to the requirement of the labour market. That is the
educational structure is not professionally oriented until recent. Many students in the
university level study subjects like history, geography, literature etc…instead of
professional courses. Getting a job offer becomes difficult because of lack of
professional ability hence unemployment. The unfavourable business climate for
development of private, low entrepreneurial projects as well as inadequate
vocational training and poor information dissemination about job opportunities have
favoured unemployment in Cameroon. High taxes scare away both foreign and local
investors, hence reducing the chance of employing youth. (Effects) There are many
effects of unemployment in Cameroon some of which are: youth unemployment has
contributed to poverty and low standard of living. Consequently, social ils like
sexuality, criminality and scamming have increased. Prisons have moreover become
crowded by many people so called “third generation”. The youth are pushed into
doing all due to the high rate of unemployment. (Solutions)To remediate the causes
of unemployment in Cameroon, the government must put in place more professional
school which will permit the youth after training to match to the demand of the
labour market. Projects should be well supported by the government land fluid
circulation of information on job offers. High taxes on foreign and local investors
should also be reviewed and to be affordable in order for investors to be more active
in reducing unemployment.

Definitely, it was question of presenting the causes, consequences and solutions

to the unemployment in Cameroon . generally, we have the non-professionalisation
of youth educational curriculum, the low financial situations of youth projetcs and
inadequate information on job offers. Theses causes have enormously contributed to
the effects of unemployment such as: sexuality, criminality, and scamming. In
remediation the government have to established professionalised training courses,
adequate financial on youth projects and assure a fluid circulation of information on
job offering.
