Remembrance, Celebration, Symbol
When the video talked about different ways the flag is used and when, I felt
sympathy. The flag is an important symbol that is utilized during harsh times of
war, depression, fatalities, protests, and more.
The episode provided fun facts about the usage of flags using primary
resources. For example, the size of the original American flag.
An “Oh” moment I had during the episode was with the fact that the American
flag has different meanings in different locations and even times in history. It is
something I truly never gave much thought too before. But for example, the
flag within an elementary school has different meaning/symbolism than one
displayed during a protest.
The video briefly mentioned the holiday known as Flag Day. Of course, I
previously knew about the holiday itself… but I would be curious to learn more
about its origin and background.
