Table 1

Start By:

a. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Testing and Adjusting Machine Preparation  for the correct procedure.

b. Perform the high-voltage shutdown. Refer to Testing and Adjusting Machine Preparation  for the correct procedure.

c. Remove truck/crawler frame from upper revolving frame assembly.

d. Remove upper swing roller assemblies.

1. Position adequate stairway/platform access to each side of the truck frame.

2. Clean and degrease both interior compartments of truck frame and exterior deck areas of both truck frame and crawler frames.
As cleaning permits, remove electrical and mechanical components from the deck of the truck frame. Disconnect lubrication lines to center
pin hub.

After work area has been cleaned properly, inspect swing rack weld for any evidence of cracking.

Typical example.

4. Preheat swing rack to 121° C (250° F) and maintain temperature using tooling (C) and Tooling (D) on the rack and deck floor. The
temperature of 121° C (250° F) needs to be maintained throughout the entire removal procedure. Use carbon-arc or gas gouging torch to
remove the weld between the swing rack and the deck.
Note: Pay close attention in the removal process. Gouging into the machined surface of the top plate of the truck frame must be avoided.

5. Remove two superbolts and expansion sleeves by the following manner:

a. On lower torque nut, turn first jack bolt CCW until it feels loose. (No more than 1/4 turn).

b. Move in a circular pattern to the next jack bolt and repeat Step 5a.

c. Repeat pattern, usually after 2 or 3 passes the torque nut can be spun off by hand. Also remove the "special" hardened lower washer.

d. On upper torque nut, tighten jack bolts in a circular pattern to extract tapered stud from expansion sleeve.

6. Remove bolts (2) that secure swing rack (3) to the truck frame.
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to swing rack (3) at the 4 lift point holes in the webbing of swing rack (3). The weight of swing
rack (3) is approximately 24024 kg (52,964 lb). Remove swing rack (3) from the deck.
