SECTION 4 – Electrical Installation

PROJECT DESIGN
You are required to DESIGN and BUILD a model of an Upstairs and downstairs house with 1) a
3 way switching circuit controlling a fluorescent lamp for the stairway.
2) One switch controlling 2 lamps in parallel for a long corridor /hall.
3) A 110/115V duplex outlet for a room.
4) A G.F.C.I outlet for the kitchen area.
5) An electric Bell.
The circuit wiring arrangement must be done in FULL PVC Conduit Wiring.
You must include the following in your design:
1. PVC conduit and boxes
2. Use of appropriate bends (90° bend and a 45° offset)

a. In building your circuit, you must demonstrate the following:

1. Health and safety practices
2. Correct use of tools/materials/measuring instruments
3. Correct termination procedures
4. Adherence to Circuit Diagram and PVC Layout
5. The use of at least TWO types of tests to confirm that the circuit is safe to use and
also that it is functional BEFORE actually powering-up

b. Write up a report on the activity conducted to include

1. A re-statement of the Project Design
2. Circuit Diagrams and PVC Layout drawing
3. Procedures for setting up and testing
4. Observations
5. Conclusions
