Introduction:
In this module, you will learn the nature of hazard and disaster. You will be aware
that hazards are inevitable and become disasters only when a community is not prepared
for them. These disasters can harm human, economic, and environmental sectors of your
community. To prevent or minimize disaster risks, different perspective should be
considered of the planning or the implementation of any human activities.

How and When and event becomes a disaster?
When an event causes a significant number of dead or missing people in an
area, it is considered a disaster.
A disaster leads to the complete disruption of a community to such an extent
that it cannot bear the repercussions on its own

Disaster can result in the loss of many lives or completely destroy a habitat to
such an extent that it is either permanently irrecoverable or would take an
extended period and huge resources to repair.
for example, Yolanda disaster, resulted in the deaths of many as a result of
super typhoon/surge and practically destroyed an entire habitat.
