Continuing Education Goals

My continuing educational goals include participating in professional development and

organization held seminars, courses, and meetings on topics relevant to my nursing specialty

area. I plan to be involved in oncology and eventually in an intensive care specialty area. After 4-

5 years working as a nurse in oncology or ICU I plan to apply and enroll into a selected DNP or

master NP program to become an education and a certified Advance Practice Registered Nurse

(APRN). The specialty I plan to pursue unless other opportunities present themselves will be to

become an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP), an NP role that

specializes in oncology treatment and patient care. In my continuing education, much like in my

current practice goals, oncology is an area I would like to focus on due to it’s demand for

patient-centered care and an empathetic approach to nursing.
